Well new case, new project I guess. The project name Trinity seems appropriate as it is a Chieftec Matrix and it will be also be a part of a network called the Matrix (which was name before the purchase of this case). My plan is to keep the theme of the case silver and black with blue lighting and water dye. Anyway some pics to start of with. This is Yodasarmpit pic as I forgot to take a pic of the case before taking off the panels...all in all the same case. The inside. The new home for the guts until it new home is compete. And a freshening up for the keyboard to match the case.
Why are you using a seperate network card when the a7n8x-x already has a network card built in? YingKo
Oh goody, another Chieftec case I want to see some green in this one Just kidding with ya. Looks promising; I want to see how this project of yours turns out :Thumb: BTW, what IS the point of adding another NIC? The built in one is 10/100, and the only point in having another NIC added is if you are in a BUS or Token Ring configuration network, or if you are being odd and have a standard network and want to link a computer with another using a crossover; practical purpose in this being comlpletely unknown to me.
Well, if you wanna gte nitty gritty... I beleieve the built in is 10/100/1000, and I don't see it on the -X but on the deluxe it has 2 nics. I <3 the matrix cases. mod on -Bob
To be honest, most of the mother boards that come with on board NIC use crappy ones. Unless its something like a 3Com or Intel on board, its probably going to have bad proformance. most I have seen use the Realtek chips, all I can say. Not sure about his though, need to look it up again, but it might be one of the ones using the 3Com chip. Too add, I will be getting one of the smaller Matrix cases in soon, hope to start a project durring the summer to take with me to Quakecon. Nothing fancy, just some paint, window, fans, simple stuff. Mainly due to the fact it will be my first crack at this stuff.
I am very willing to bet that the card he is using is a realtek chipset, and I believe the onboard is either a 3com or a part of the nvidia chipset. In which case both are better then the realtek. Yingko
Found out what it has Onboard LAN: Integrated NVIDIA MAC + Realtek 8201BL PHY 10/100Mbps Not sure what kind of card he has though.
This is turning out to be a topic about my network card rather that the log To clear things up, I was having a wee bit of problems with the onboard so I chucked the card back in for the time being. The card is a ebuyer "special" but does what it has to do well. Anyway more updates to come tonight.
Not a problem mate. Still have a bit of thinking going to do. I have still to decided where i am going to place my radiator before I start cutting away at the chasis. It will more than likely go to the bottom/front. A new toy hopefully will arrive today too which will be a key feature of the case.
I have decided on a fairly simple design. The window will be situated in the lower half of the case so that I can hide pump, PSU and all loose cable's. I had decided on a design but my house mate decided to use the same design on his Matrix Chieftec. I still may go along with the design as I do not want to do anything too fancy.
Love it when parcels arrive. Wonder what it could be wOOOOOt!!! innovatek Tank-O-Matic Who ate all my sweeties??? Coolmiester
