i dont want to sound rude... but half the fun of modding (at least for me) is learning and creating something individual. if you make the mistakes or have to keep redesigning it, the end product, when done will put a big smile on ya face and you'll feel proud at a work well done. sure ask around... but the fine detailing and working out stuff is the fun bit... trust me... go ahead do it.... i'm sure you'll do a good job..) and of cource... POST SOME PICS!!! happy moddin!!
Like i said earlier, I would make a weight that was approx. 3.6 ounces. You could tape some coins together until they weighed about the same. then i would somehow tape the weight to the tray and test it before you buy a $100 vfd. If it works then you are all set, you just need to be creative and find a way to protect the pcb of the vfd and still have it firmly attached.
usually mb=motherboard, but i think he meant macro black it was a polite way of him saying "I'm not gonna take it all apart so i can weigh it." I dont mean to put words in his mouth, thats how i took it tho 8)
I thought about doing this too, you are going to need some sort of spring loaded roller for the cable so it doesnt fold up on the outside or something. Sort of like the thing inside a tape measure. Hey there you go...
Okay.....I understand. That's how it is...jk. Hey macroman, how did you get that mirror finish so that only the lit characters would be shown on the VFD Display?
