-I decided, since I visit Bit-Tech more then any other place, and seems to have the best community... and we are just an ocean apart, I figured I would post here. Seems to be the best group of modders around as well... New Project: Midori Ryu. My cpu died recently.. so I am going to take the next few months *until i get enough money to buy a new one* to mod my case. It will take a while as I am waiting on a dremel tool as well. but with my power drill i have completed a good deal of damage on another one of those "cheezy" pre-modded cases. Once I get home from work.. I will get a couple pics before power drill/after power drill and you will see the case im talking about =-) So far. I have seen no one do anything to this case. It will be some basic hack and slash with freebies, since i have no money for anything "good" for it.
Ok. I know i do not have any decent before pictures at home... So once again, wasting "valuable" time at work i found this pic, my case.. cept it has the "pre-mod" of the window on the side... no matter. Now you are telling yourself... "God. Not that case again.." -only.. im not doing the standard ideas... the only mods i have ever seen on this case. new side window. etching on window. blow hole on top. lcd on the front of the case. or el wire. imho all of that is "ok" but doesnt make the case any more interesting... and frankly i got tired of going to the various mod websites and seeing galleries with at least 50 "mods" of the case and its all the same... (in general) -mm cant wait to get a dremel tool in ~6 hours when im home i will show the carnage of the rivet-less case.
HEY!! STOP STEALING MY PROJECT NAME!!!!! If you read the project logs you can see my project with PROJECT GREEN DRAGON as the title!!! just change the name, and i'm happy
If you read my title. its Midori Ryu. which.. in japanese is "Green Dragon" and at the time of post i did not see yours.. =-) but Midori Ryu will stand... Unless a Forum God thinks differently . . . -Edit- Forgot to mention... Slannesh has a Project Green Dragon as well.. with the year back in 2003.. hmm.
It is hard to come up with new ideas on what to do with a case that so many have modded before you. I spent about 3 weeks figuring out what I could do to make my computer different. Here's a tip; use your boring time at school to draw sketches for your case. Here are three Modded Chieftec Dragon cabinets for your inspiration: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=58376 (my project) http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=30466&page=1&pp=20 (liquid Dragon) http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=46874&page=1&pp=20 (chieftec Dragon)
oh i see how it is, dont put my chieftech on there, and i do believe i am doing the most work to one (wont look like a chieftech at all when its done) here is the link http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=55141 JEEVES
Oh! I'm sorry jeeves! there are just so many... but your project should definately be mentioned love your work by the way
You could not imagine the amount of rivets they used. *sigh* but alas. they could not stand up to a decent drill bit.. -cutting tool should be here within a week ~more or less depends on the weather in Alaska if the planes can fly the mail out.. (let me know if the pictures do not work... else ill have to find someplace else to put em) -next up. tracing all the desigins on the parts so i know how much to cut out
Grr. tried hosting them from my Yahoo account.. err.. been trying some free hostings but none of them were working for that long either (not enough upload) any ideas? -={ EDIT = Fixed }=- (sorry for the trouble)
lol couldnt see it when i was at work, but from my comp at home i see them fine. you guys need to check your settings JEEVES
So after 4 hard hours at work.. what did i make? nothing for work. thats for sure... Not going to post until its on the case, so you cant take my cool cut out ideas but. its going to be alot of dremel, filing.. and hopefully no loss of fingertips for the work.. should prove to be fun.. lets just leave it at the idea that these dragons are.. ...wicked...
Seeing that pic of the case deconstructed looks like a massacre haha. Well anyways good luck on your mod, it sounds interesting.
You should see all the *guts* then... wires, hdds, etc.. Still trying to decide how much of the "junk" i took out i will use.. ie the nasty purple fan holders.. trays where the removable drive bays sat on.. hmm..
Here are some new pictures, I broke down and bought one... Can you see whats left of the Chieftech?? *cuts might be so strait yet. but not bad for the first time..
Well heres one to add for ya! This is going to turn out interesting I believe. Can't stress enough how important it is to take your time. Looks good so far. Don't they have rivet-removal tools that would've made that easier, perhaps cleaner? Anyways, good work. *subscribed*
