basically it is down to you, mcshaggy, to decide who's opinion you can trust toughie there, i know, id be having troubles figuring out what to think right now if it wasnt for the fact that ive used geil before. personally i think geil is good memory, not the best in the world (but not the most expensive either), but it certainly is good the only other thing i can say (or quote) to back up my opinion is: This post brought to you in part by: sarcasm
i think i got the answer im looking for... (i think?) reason being is im always on a tight budget and for the money they looked alright (and the golden dragon series just looks so cool) im not going to do any extreme overclocking, but some. timings dont matter too much for me, these look okay. as for the person who said i might want to wait after lookin at the front pge; yeah i heard about all that but i imagine everyones going to want it so therefor the prices will be quite high. my dad knows a guy that deals computer parts and gets them wholesale so im seeing how much my parts are going to cost from him, if i have money after i might just go for OCZ (or corsair, ill wait for benchmarks if it comes to that though) anyways thanks for the input; never knew a simple question would start a mini battle hehe
Don't worry, it's been coming for quite a while now, just waiting for the right catalyst (or the final straw) Hope everything goes well.
With multiple manufacturers producing similar products and fanboys around mini battles kick off at the flick of a switch. Proph.
it tends to be free from fanboyism here in hardware, bigz keeps things running smoothly, unfortunately, every so often we get a fanboy in here making claims without proof.
With respect, it's got nothing to do with hardware or fanboyism, just the attitudes of certain people. Yoda said it best:
I am misunderstood. Let me re-phrase this: This memory does exactly what it's supposed to; store things. Do not expect amazing performance or an uber overclock with this memory. I hope you're happy?
i fail to see the correlation between "do not expect amazing performance or an uber overclock" with "its crap" it is good memory, not the best in the world but then it isnt supposed to me to me, "its crap" would mean that it doesnt work properly, has stability issues, doesnt run at quoted speeds, randomly dies etc etc etc maybe that is just me though?
So a post along the lines of: "I find it not to overclock very well, and prone to stability and reliability issues" would be more appropriate in future. We are a polite, informative bunch here, and we prefer informative posts, even better if they are backed up with proof of your polite argument. Play nice, and you won't annoy the mods.
It's not that hard to smurf either. (Smurf=make new account for those not familiar with the term). Anyway, banning isn't the most effective strategy on these forums, as there is no measure to stop the user from posting messages (such as a cd-key that will be removed from forum use). You're also likely to anger the banned into spamming the board using a java bot (those things can create about 25 threads a minute, pretty annoying.) Either way, I can't even think of a good reason to ban me. Uh.. I make.. stupid posts, I guess? Live with it, I'm a clown . And only 80% of my posts are stupid, the other 20% could be classified as valuable adivce, such as the advice on the power supply I'm going to post in a moment.
