Incredibly, i managed to crush (yes CRUSH) my mouse today, i've been using an Intellimouse Explorer v3 for about 3 years and really love it. But for my next mouse i'm debating over the MX500 or getting ye ol' MS IE 3 again. They're about the same price, so i could go either way.

Note i dont want wireless (ie MX700) or the Intellimouse Explorer v4 (due to its sucky click-less wheel).

You were basically right. The 510 is just a prettier (and perhaps slightly improved) 500.

well if i could i woulda got the MX510, but they dont sell them down here. newayz, i ended up getting the MX500 at the bargain basement basement price of AUD$45. Almost 40 dollars off.

Oh mama this is the sweetest mouse ever. So smooth, so sleek, so sexy. Is it a sin to have carnal thoughts about a mouse?

Having never used the MS mouse I cant comment on it, but I have an MX500 and I absolutely love it, it has some of the best ergonomics around, it feels as if it was designed for my hand.

Had the Intelli v3 and an MX700, the logitech wins over the ms mouse anyday!

Much nicer in your hand I'd say...

thats true, also i found the V3 felt kinda 'cheap' this one feels way more solid

Man its hard adjsuting to the speed of this mouse, i loaded up CS and if i move the mosue 1/2 an inch either way i spin around twice. Mite have to turn my sensitivity down from full for the first time ever

Maybe the Razor Viper would be another choice to look at?

I use a Wireless Intellimouse Explorer at the mo and used a Explorer v1, both reasonable mice and the tech has come on since then. I suspect either would do you just fine, but the MX510 is the more up-to-date of the two mice.

I must admit to being intrigued how you managed to crush your existing mouse?

Oh yea i forgot about the viper, i might look into that although im not too confident its for sale down here in Oz.

Oh and i crushed the mice by dropping 4 2000 pages+ hardcover textbooks i was moving across the room from a height of bout 3 meters (the mouse was on the floor). It smashed the body of the mouse, but i'm keeping all the internals for some future modding project. :dremel:

edit: man o man this Mouseware software is the biggest piece of rat-faeces i've ever had the displeasure of running. :grr:

If you are going to play any FPS don't get the new intellimouse. I looked at it in Best Buy and you don't get any kind of feedback when you use the scroll. That is enough reason to get something else.

has im3 really been around 3 years?
I also managed to crush my mouse a while back (a shelf in my room collapsed above my pc while i was out on the piss!) that mouse still works though, I just crushed it back into shape :D, I now use an im3 which works fine, even in fps (don't get the problems mentioned above) but from what I've read (not here) I get the impression the logitech is the best bet. im3 peforms very well but logitech performs well and is "comfier" is the impression I got
