look into getting a NETGEAR dsl router, as they are cheap, made out of aluminum or steel.

Thats actually what I was going to reccommend. They're fairly expensive for a small router, but they'll last forever. (MAC FILTER!)

What's the point in having a 1 port router? I thought the whole point in a router was to connect your LAN to your WAN and be able to share the net across the network. As far as I can tell that router doesn't include a firewall so what exactly does it do? [edit: nevermind, of course you can always connect the single port to a hub, silly me]

I'm also looking for a modem/router for my student house next year. I'm not certain but it seems only about 3 of my house mates will want to share the net so a 4 port router would be good. Does the cheap 4 port ebuyer one come with a firewall Shadow_101?

Ours has worked flawlessly with Pipex for the last year between 4 people. My family uses a netgear one though.

Dex: yes and no, it doesn’t have a hardware firewall, but does come with a basic software firewall which isn’t great, but the NAT alone provides a lot of protection from WAN connection.

The point in a 1 port router is that we can use a 100mb switch, we will be transferring a lot of large files between ourselves.
