heres an idea to make the shatter rpm higher, glue 2 or 3 disc together with suuper glue, of ZAP (CA type of super glue).
It's kinda like a fragmentation grenade. I like it. I want video, whoever does it, pics won't be enough.
i would except i lack one thing, a motor that powerfull. And also gotta find a relatively safe places to do it, and film it. But if i get really really bored this summer, i just may. "borrow" my brothers dremel set it to max then run like hell. oh and tape it as well, i have camcorder.
i should get my brother to make a cd destruction box, with an insanely high powered motor. i do have a dustbuster motor, he he he. and an almost unlmited supply of aol discs he get to going and set them up so when they go boom the shards hit each other.
you need something more powerful than a dremel to spin 3 cds up. maybe my vacuum motor will work for that too. next time i do it (outside) i'll video it w/ my digital camera...should be in a week
that would be kewl, umm if your going glue them to gether, make sure they are balanced, or you could end up bending the armature or bearings.
yep, i always check before i start. with the first cd i posted, i "pulsed" the motor to make sure they were balanced.
okay, me get's dremel, okay got it now find a way do get a cd properly attached to it results! set the dremel on 2/5 of it's max and most of the cd's flew off it and went with high speed down the stairs. On cd crahed against de wall and scattered(see photo's) www.mtonissen.nl/cd/ yes it's dutch
lol, when you have pieces that big (that stretch all the way to the outside) you know it wasnt purely centripetal force that broke it. i actually tried the dremel, but when you hold it, it vibrates in ur hand too much. thats why i put the big motor in the big clamp i still need to get around to doing another one
heheh this sounds like fun, time to put my families new set of air-tools to good use (50k rpm pneumatic rotary tool fun).
has anyone looked at the homemade cannon section on the powerlabs site that was mentioned earlier. That has some sweet stuff like sending a golf ball past mach 2.
