Hi I'm not sure if any of you remember what i did to my old case i think Dad you might. Well i started off with a plan old Black case that i sourced form Novatech, this was plain and borring so i gave it a custom paint job and cut it up a bit. This intailed cutting a Bit-tech logo into the front which didn't go to my plains which was a shame int he end. Now i have gone back to my original project to finish it off and to give it a new facelift. Planned changes - Remove any excess fat from the case - Drill and install fixings for the Pumps - Remove anything that will get in the way of the watercooling - Increase size of cut out on the motherboard tray - Add 5mm UV Leds to the underside of the Tank-o-matic - Add vynals to right side door, top and tank-o-matic - Get chassy chromed This is what the case looks like at the moment and that is the paintjob that its on both of the side panels, top and front of the case. Starting with the bare case first off i had to get the top off it this required a specal revit removing device. This then left me with 3 holes int he fornt and the back of the case where the rivest where, i will in turn replace the rivets when its all dun i will show you that tool later. [if i can convince my dad i will get hold of the Air Rivet Gun its spits the pins out the back into a little bag and is alot easier then a hand one] The case then looked like this after, it has no top Now onto the cutting, first thing to do was to make the motherboard hole a bit bigger in the first image you cans ee where i marked out where i was going ot cut and the second you can see it has gone . before After Next up was the cutout on the rear of the case near the 2 80mm fans, this was a bit tricky as if it got messed up it would go horribly wronge but it didn't which was nice and turned out good Nxt up on the list of things to do was the cut outs on the 3.5" cage as the res wouldn't fit due to these little flaps that keep the hdds seperated. These had to go so out comes the dremel again. Well now all the cutting was done it was time to bring out the drill again, first off starting with a 3mm bit i put a pillet hole in then finished off with the 5mm dady of a drill. I used titanium and diamond Dewalt drill bits in my dad 2a 9.5v Dewalt beast , went through the steal like it was paper. well heres all the parts sitting on my stairs waiting to go into the car and onward to the chromers, its taken a little bit more time then i thought but its finally happening. right last image shows what i have to fit in the case when it all gets back. Inventury of parts that have to fit Eheim 1048 DD D4 2 x Thermochill 80.2s with 80mm Delta's on rheos 120mm BIX Gold 3.5" bayres Tank-o-matic 2 x DD maze 4GPUs with dual 80w TECs DD maze 4 NB Aquacomputers NB block DD z-chip NB block WzD Mosfet block 2 x HD-o-matics Gainward 1600XP [5900U 256mb] 2 x WD Raptors 1 x 120 Hitachi IDE Sony DRU510a Antec TrueControl with bay Lynksis WIFI card Digital PCI tuner card Abit NF7-S v2.0 AMD Athlon-M 1.45v 768mb PC4000 Gold OCZ All the hose needed and cables for the comp to run Will it all fit :S hmmm i hope so next update in a few days when i do some test loops. morgan. wow, i've never seen so much water cooling, especially the southbridge and mosfet blocks. How come you're using the Zalman NB heatsink on the southbrige aswell as the waterblock? Why not just the water block?
the Zalman has since been removed it was on there tempery, well infact took a hair dryer alot of Owowowowowing to remove the damn thing lol morgan.
YAY!!! will it blow up ? I personally have seen this project well some of it in his old halls room and it is to say the least a sexeh idea and if he sorts it which it looks like he will god himself will be jealous... maybe... weeee
Update: 18-06-04 Hi Update time as per usual images are clickable to 1024x768 larger versions available through email request. Now i've got that over with time to show you lot what i've been doing over the last couple of days. First off the case came back from PMS[painters] they kindly Kickel Plated it as the Chroming would of looked poop according to the guy there so i said go for it see how it turns out if i don't like i'll chrome it anyway. Well happy to say it turned out better then i expected and im thoroughly happy. See for yourselfs. Well after id finished looking at the shiny case for a while i whipped out the pop rivet gun and a hand full of rivets and started putting it back together. It took a while there where quite a few rivets to put back lol Well after extensive pop riveting this is the result, put shades on now Well thats it until i upload some more pictures, coming up is the case with all the bits in . morgan.
mmmmmmm..........shinyness.........lookin good!! did the Kickel (?Nickel) Plating cost as much as chroming would have?
It's an heavy watercooled project ! Looks really interesting, lot of thing to put into a not-so-large case ! mmh chrome
Can I ask why your mobo block is on top of the heatsink and not on the board chip itself? Doesnt it defeat the purpose?
I have since revisited the design of the case and now don't need both the Maze 4s that will be for another project. Im planning to put a 126w and an 80w Tec on a GFX card with 2 maze 4 cooling it. Its now running on a TI4600 nice and frotsy . Anyhoo thanks for all the nice comments i have more to come later today, keep and eye out . Yeah the block was placed there for the picture hadn't removed the heatsink it was a bugger to getoff had to heat it up with a hairdryer then do the fire dance to get it off cause well heatsink aluminum hair dryer hot :O do the math lol . Hehe well its all going good now im on schudeual to finish for i20 i think . morgan.
Looking nice. Is it the photos or is that type of plating duller than if it was chrome, personally I think I prefer that to the high gloss finish of chrome. How much did it cost?
