3M make a product that comes in clear plastic sheets and you scratch the letters onto surfaces, Im not sure how well theyd stay put whilst being typed on. Id think scratch the letters onto the keys, then you could coat them with a clear lacquer of some description, be it a dull clearcoat etc

Just a suggestion... worth a try

Yeah, that's the one. I think that will make one mighty fine fan grille.

As far as the keyboard goes, I'm sure you've sene PsychoI3oy's project over here. If not, you really should check it out. It should provide some fairly good inspiration.

Here's an idea I had: Maybe you could paint the map of Middle Earth on the keyboard body, and use a similar script idea on the keys.

Thanks for all the great replys :thumb:

Hmm.. that seems hard to do. Do u mean like continue it on each key so the map covers the entire keyboard except the spaces inbetween keys?

I think i will do that if I decide to put letters on at all. I'll look around town for it when I get a chance. Maybe a hobby store.

That's a pretty cool mouse. A bit expensive but I will definitely consider getting it though.

The paint on my test peice is pretty shiny. I didn't sand before painting, but i can see a fuzzy reflection a couple inches away from it. I'll edit a pic in here soon.

Hmm.. is it just me, or is Bit-Tech's server really slow right now?

I bought a hard drive from Costco!!!:

And I've decided not to have Sting on the top of the case. There just isn't enough room for it to look good. I'm going to have a rectangular window with the ring script etched in it.
It just so happens that the large circle is exactly 80mm in diameter and the smaller one is exactly 40mm. Fans anybody? I think I'll put a fan in the center and try to make a fan grill like this for it:
I cut the hole and you can see it's in the perfect position to exhaust heat from the processor and psu.
    And from the side:
I might be able to etch the window today. I'll post pics if i do.

Well maybe its been said but how bout on the window you cut out a circle of frosted plexi, then write whats on the ring, but shine it so its not frosty, the use golden colored leds to shine and make the writing light up.

sorry dude... that won't work... I have tried sanding the back of an engraved plexi and it really makes the engraving waaay less visible...

Btw: how are you going to make that fangrill, when the eye is not attached to the eye lids..? If I was you I would leave the round edges in the corner of each lid... I think it makes the eye look egyptian (like the eye of Rah)...
Great work on the case though! good luck wit hthe engraving :D!

Actually, now that you mention it, it does seem a tad difficult. My idea originally involved painting the map on the body of the keyboard and using a neutral color on the keys (with a Tengwar-style script for the letters). However, now that I look at mine, there may not really be enough room on the keyboard's base to make it worthwhile. I guess it depends on what kind of keyboard you have.

However, if you could extend it over the keys then yes, it would be awesome. And yes, it would be difficult. You could make some sort of a jig on a piece of plywood that would hold all the keys in their proper place.

Hmm. You're probably right, that may be too difficult to be worthwile.

I've come up with a possible name for this project.

    "Caran Rûn"

it mean Red Sunrise. Legolas mentions that a red sun rises wich mean blood has been spilt that night. Since the colors are black (night) and red (sunrise) i thought it was fitting.

Hmmm... I guess people don't exactly love the name...

It does bend a little, but I think it will be better when I glue the cd in.

Hey! You know what else I founds works as a great cup holder? I'm sure you probably have one lying around the house, so It will be really cheap to make. It's called a DESK....and you set your cup on it :duh: . Great job on the window etching!

Hey, very nice etchings, but I have a question.

Did you do those by hand, or use a machine? :D
