It isn't a drill bit though. It's made to grind away hard materials, using a sideways motion. I'll be buying some sanding disks later to finish it with.
Got some yummy stuff in the mail today. Check these babies out. Skull & Bones Case Badge: Skull & Bones Thumbscrews: They match the general theme of the case nicely, don't you think? I plan on using two of the thumbscrews for the side panel, and one of the remaining 2 will be modded into a key for the front door/side panel. Not sure what to do with the last one. Any ideas? Back to work!
That badge & screws couldn't be more perfect. They should really hold the whole theme together. Good work, man! Keep it up.
Great work on the case. I have to tell you I really appreciate the details and the commentary about both the work being done and the way you solve challenges. It is very educational and insightful. Keep it up.
Paint testing update Just had a nice meal (chicken breasts fried in BBQ sauce, white rice and mashed potatos) which I made myself btw ... Did I make anyone hungry? Alright, enough of that. I've been experimenting with paint lately, and I have to say, the Duplicolor paints are definately higher quality than the Krylon. Remember how I cut out a window in the PSU? Well, I used that scrap piece of metal to test the paint on. Here is what I was able to achieve. Metalic blue...mmmmm... So yeah, that was after sand (320), primer, sand (320), primer, sand (320), paint, sand (600), paint, clearcoat, sand (2000), clearcoat, sand (2000), polish, polish, polish....lol....Its taken about a week to get through this process. I used Krylon primer with the Duplicolor paint (despite warnings not to on the can) and it turned out pretty good still. I like the results, so I will probably be stripping the Krylon blue paint from my PSU and using this sexy Duplicolor metallic blue instead. Lots of mods, so little time.
An interesting question... Taking a break from cutting, and taking time to post here because I wanna know, has anyone managed to get a 426 disk smaller than this without it shattering? I like to get my money's worth.
You should save the smaller discs for when you need to make more precise cuts....but that might be a little to small now .
Update! Update time! OK, 5PM, everyone is coming home from work, so I had to stop making a racket. Here are some new pics: Overall progress: Close-ups: I drilled a hole in each eye which will eventually hold LED's, for a scarier effect. Pretty much all the cuts remaining are precise cuts, so to tackle them I will use a combination of the #409 disks (because as somebody said earlier, they really do slice throught the metal like butter, and they get small fast!), and my trusty tungsten carbide cutter (#9901). Hopefully in 2 days or so I should be done the side panel cutting and you'll all be able to see the final result. Thanks for all the compliments btw! You guys are great!
White rice AND mash? Type 2 diabetes, here we come. Ahh, you're Canadian, that explains everything. j/k man, case is looking great! Loving the unusual window design thar. Yarrr me hearties!
me so hungry... [off-topic]The other day I was talking about rice cookers (don't ask) and my friend had never heard of one. I've got two rice cookers and a huge bag of rice (weighs about 20lbs ). Asian pride! (quarter asian actually )[/off-topic]
Sorry dude, but in the grand order of life food does come before modding but keep up the good work (and cooking)
Not really. I wear gloves when using the dremel to reduce vibrations from it and at the same time protect myself from any shattering disks.
