Contender for Film Of 2004 if you ask me. Just pure unadulterated amazingness. Not a single thing wrong with it. I spent the entire film laughing (which I didn't for the first one), and enjoyed every single minute of it. The characterisation for the new cast members was spot on. Puss In Boots almost stole the show with his oneliners and general cuteness. Loads of stuff to mention but I won't cos I don't want to spoil it, but there was the usual knowing winks and nudges to other big Hollywood movies, the Oscars, and loads of great cheesy musical numbers including 'I Need A Hero' by Bonnie Tyler. On the animation side of things, it was a truly beautiful film. The humans still look a bit stuffed, but the 'special effects', landscapes, locations, and other magical creatures were superb. Also look out for a voice cameo from Jonathan Ross (although I suspect that may be UK only...). Go see it when it comes out or catch one the preview screenings (if you're in the UK). Best thing I've seen at the cinema in ages and ages. (p.s It might not seem like it, but it does eventually have one of those extra scenes after the credits that all animated movies have these days, so don't leave too early).
i cant wait to see this, the advert has the funniest thing, ive seen in a long time, where she goes "get stuck in", and the donkey goes "dont mind if i do!" and stuffs his face right onto the plate
Puss In Boots absolutely killed me in this movie, it got to the point my girlfriend had to cover my mouth to keep me from bothering people around me and ask me if i was ok because i was laughing so hard. Honestly, even though it's meant for a younger audience, every1 should get out and see this, a hilarious comedy that doesn't have to resort to "fart and titty" humor. My favorite line from the film: "Hey Boss! Let's shave him!"
I think the first still has the edge, but mainly because it was utterly new at the time. The second is still a work of comic genius most of the way through Saw an advanced preview last night and it was utterly hilarious!
Damned funny movie. I laughed my arse off when I saw it. Cool tidbit, the modelers of both Puss in Boots and the donkey came from my town!!! Good old El Paso, Texas. Damned proud of them.
It's a THONG!!!!!! ^ that bit had me n the bf roaring with laughter both times we saw it, people were turning round at us n scowling cos we couldnt stop
lmao! that was a great movie. The "Knights" cops parody had me rolling. *sniff* it's catnip! puss in boots; "thas uhh, not mine?"
Superb film IMHO, went to see it a week ago when it first opened here....much better than the first Shrek film
"I'm a real boy! #I'm a real boy, a real boy, a real...# *POOF* ...awww..." I spent most of the film gasping, pointing at the screen and squealing with laughter at all the references. The DVD better have a Spaced series 2-esque homage-o-meter. *n
My g/f and I really enjoyed it. Best thing out of the movie has got to be the puss in boots However I think Shrek 1 is better, not necessarily in CG, but in everything else. Shrek 2 is still worth watching a few times though
Ditto. The Knights sequence excellent, and John Cleese lapsing into his Basil Fawlty "It's the old war wound" routine was great. I also liked the ending with Donkey's mutant offspring. What would you call them? Dongons? Drakeys?
yeah there are at least two cameo's that have a different voice in the UK and US version the ugly step sister and the person commentation durring the red carpet walk. but in the UK showing I went to it still showed the amerian voices in the credit's as I wanted to see if it was Mr Ross. but what a great film
HAHA yea, that was mint and he's got a flap to show it. Great movie, the cinema was almost empty which made my laughing more embarassing for my mates i think
i proper lost it at the knights scene, everyone was laughing but then they all stoped and it was just me doing a mutly style snigger in the corner of a full cinema
