Right the other day I was benchmarking when my NF7-S shutdown my PC and started beeping. I thought it might be due to my 2800xp over heating (had very high temps recently). So I shut down tried a different fan combination. Switched on and now the PC refuses to post, the fans spin up board starts to beep and everything shuts down. Having looked in the manual I can't find any reference to what the beeps mean. So fellow Abit owners has anyone else experinced this? If so what does it mean and how can I sort it?
Might help if you told us the beep pattern...long continuous beeping, one long two short, high-low siren, what?
It probably means that you lived up to you're title Can you possibly tell us the combination of beeps? Cheers, Mike
Unfortunately that looks likely Reset CMOS, reseat the CPU and have a look at it. Have you got another Socket A CPU you can try?
Nope fraid not at the momenet, might be able to get hold of one over the weekend. Reseated CPU and reset CMOS nothing happening though. Edit/ It's just a constant high low siren that beeps from the mobo nothing else.
You know, I should have realised that too. Since Avalon did die, and the motherboard is what went when it initially looked like the CPU had failed.
oh man, i didnt know it was possible to have such bad luck with hardware, you have to be moving onto a new record last time i heard the low-high siren sounding beeps it was a dead motherboard, but that wansnt on an abit at all so i suppose that isnt much help i have a spare duron cpu you can pinch if you want to check if it is the cpu or not
Try posting it without memory or a graphics card inserted. If the beep codes change then the board may not be dead. I've had some bitches of NF7-s with regards to posting, also try posting without the BIOS chip in place then replace the chip and try again, it worked for me once. Also remove battery and leave it to sit for a while, but I wouldn't hold my breathe if you get to that point. If you think the board is dead it's gotta be worth giving the above a try, also ensure that you replace the BIOS chip the right way round as you'll cook it otherwise, I know that from experience. Hope it helps C ya Ian
Well it seems to be working Not quite sure how just did some fiddling with the cpu and it gets into windows. Still reporting high temps though.
Not necessarily, I've seen a CPU in a dead NF7-S and it just did some assorted beeping (like some long 5-second ear-shattering thing!). But something is definately dead. I'd think PSU myself.
