Im off to argentina for a few weeks next week, and am working out what to do with my camera. I have a canon ixus 430 which takes proprietry rechargeables.....and ive left it a bit late to buy loads of spares. However the charger has power input of 100v-240v AC 50/60hz, and apparently argentina has 220v, so i should be able to use the charger? All i need toget is the cable....any ideas where from or should it be easy to pick one up near the airport? Im assuming that the 2 pin connector on the other end is a worldwide standard? Thanks
I live in Uruguay, country next to Argentina, I'm 2:30 away from the capital of Argentina. AC is 220V 50Hz, so you won't have any problem with that charger. About the plug, it's like the one at the bottom of this pic, that's the most used plug. If you're going to Buenos Aires, get a SeaCat (50min trip) and come to Uruguay, go to Colonia, it's an old historical city, it's a Humanity's Historical Patrimony (?).
If the charger is rated 100v-250v AC 50/60hz, then it will work anywhere between 100v & 250v. I'm sure theres a website somewhere that tells you exactly about different countries power supplies. this'll do - http://kropla.com/electric2.htm
Wow, those connectors look very dangerous! Are all the sockets over there like that without shutters to prevent things being poked into the holes?
:: Phat :: I know what I'm saying, we even had an appartment there. SteveyG: http://members.lycos.co.uk/herdkilling/BT/ac.jpg
Thanks for the replies guys. I had a rummage through the camera box and came across a 2 pin power lead - fingers crossed it might even be the right one! Attatched is a picture - click here This shows the charger connector, and the lead - the distance from outside edge of each pin to outside edge of other pin is 21mm If this cable is the right one then i should be ok Please let me know.
i would NEVER let a walloutlet in my house lok like THAT... SteveyG: some outlets have those shutters to prevent poking.. and they are a true pain in the ass!
Phrozenpenguin: that connector will work, don't worry about it. If you have any doubt or if you would like to know anything of Argentina or if you need help, PM or add me to MSN. Smilodon: why not?
