It seems to be a good idea to use band-aid/plaster. I removed it some minutes ago and it seems that the wound is not "open" anymore ...

    ok anyway:
    [UPDATE]
    The "old" frontplate is done!!!

Here are final impressions, of the first part:

Maybe I start a second try with a big plate, but I'm not sure yet ...

    [UPDATE]
    ok next Round
I've started with the first window, the left one, if you look at it from the front.
Let's start with a nice engraving:
hard to get a good picture ... sorry it's a bit blurry ...

ok now let's place that plexi behind the cutted sidepanel:

an here a small teaser for the case-main-color, or at least one of the maincolors ;)

I think I'll paint the sidepanels and the case-interior in red, the top, bottom, front, and back stay black or will be painted in a new black (highglossy, but not sure yet)

ok guys, what do you think so far???

I like what youve done so far, and the end result should be quite nice.

I know what you mean about the posts, none of mine have ever broken 12-18 comments really, kind of a bummer, when you arent that intense yet and looking for some constructive feedback. Good luck though!

    Big Update!!!

    hi there ...
    next [UPDATE]:

Ok today I've "started" with the case-top and bottom:
First of all I removed two pieces of the bottom, so the case lost a lot of weigh again ;)
Here the first one is gone already ...

btw.: nice magnetic effect at one screw:

Later I removed the top of the case. I had to drill 6 weld away, then it could be removed. In the top are two recangled windows now and everything is painted red now.(no pics)

Then it was time for the case itself:
Everything cleaned up and then painted red.

Only the bottom and back are still black:

    Here with top:

And here are some previewshots with the front:

    and now: comments please ;)

Project looks really nice so far. I was wondering as I may soon be purchasing the same case what you used to cut through the steel for the case windows? I'm planning on using a dremal.

Nice color scheme, loving that quality paintjob on the frame!
Bout fell over when you showed your "thumb mod" HEhehehe, that's some dangerous stuff there... as posted before, "Clamps", learn em and love em.

So, for all of this beautiful facade that you are building, and all of that gorgeous space... when you going to sub lease some of that extra storage? ;)

Keep it up, this will be nice!

Looks like it's coming along nicely! Did you dremmel the etching in yourself?

Just remember: shop safety! Always plan on the worst possible thing happening, and take steps to prevent it. As a victim of a self-inflicted table saw wound, I know that it looks easy to use heavy equipment like that, but the price for not being safe is your own flesh and blood!

    Hi,
Nettes Case. Gut lackiert; Vielleicht solltest du nächstes mal eine helle Grundierung nehmen, dass macht die Farbe weniger "verwaschen". Sonst echt gut.
Ich hab auch schon nette Erfahrungen mit Plexi gemacht;

Sorry, I just wrote, that he made a good paint job, but I think it would be better if he uses a grounding like grey or white to get a better result.

    small update

Tomorrow it's partytime, and the case is going to be presented to my friends.
So tomorrow the first stage of my YY will be completed.

    The first part for today:
Two fans for the back, modded with 4 red LEDs and wired up:

Then finally the fans could be installed in the back:
    outside:
    inside:

    PSU installed:

    and the whole thing:

So tomorrow it's time for the hardware, windows and wiring everything together.
    Then stage 1 is complete.

    What will be Stage 2???
    - Building a Fancontroll/Baybus, no real ideas yet
    - installing a LCD (no money yet ...)
    - engrave the last windows
    - install 4-6 red coldcathodes ...
    - paint some stuff like screws in red ...
    - maybe some changes for the front ...

so stay tuned !!! and comments please ;)
