I need help setting this up.

Phoned Telewest to find out if my IP was static or dyanmic, they said dynamic. But it hasn't chaged since I connected.

    I'm really confused.

    Anyone got a guide etc?

    Hello,
If you have a Router, then you ip will not change unless you reboot the router.

    I have Dynamic Verizon DSL.
When I had a switch, Everytime I reboot my computer, I got a new ip adress.
When put a Router, Everytinme I reboot my computer, I got the same ip adress.
When I reboot the Router, the ip adress changes

If rebooting the router doesn't work, then you have a static ip adress.

Currently I'm on 56k from a undisclosed top-secret research facility remote location.

Hmmmmm, Why would you need to configure your dns?

If you have Dynamic IP, then most certianly you can use PPPOE connection that should be built in to the router. Just fill in your connection username and password and your good to go.
If your ISP uses DHCP server, then you must get the Ipadress that they provide and fill it in the dhcp server menu or something and your good to go.

No need to mess around DNS options I think

    Still not working.

    ARGH :wallbash: :waah: :duh:

Ok want to label everything simple in the hope someone can help.

1.I'm running a Webstar USB Cable Modem.
2.I usually connect through USB but have to use LAN slot instead because thats the only one compatible with the router.
3.I have a Cat-5 connected from Modem LAN port too Router WAN port.
4.I have then one CAT-5 going to my computer and another to computer 2.
5.I tried to setup as DHCP:- This involves
-Inputting MAC address (writtian on bottem of modem)
    -Then inputting 2 DNS address
I set all my LAN config to Auto detect (ip, subnet mask and DNS) in the my network panel.

Using cross over cables for all connections (thats right isn't it?)

    Appreciate any help

Nope. For your setup you want just straight Cat5 UTP.
