Ouch! That front grill is pretty cool... how'd you get the holes perfect? do you have a swivel base on the mill or drill (which is it? cuz that looks like a rough milling bit in the chuck!)
Heres the next part of the project Mount this and my dvdR sideways. Im going to try and squeze a Vfd in between Also to finish this project Im getting a new videocard. Probably a radeon 9800
Is that one of those laptop/notebook cd rom drives? I love those things. Push button eject works all the time, even with you first power on, you can leave it open during boot.. and its TINY. Cant wait to see what becomes of that.
Looks like a normal CD/DVD with the metal cover off. You're lucky... all of the new ones (at least all of mine) have that strip thing that holds the CD built into the lid so it would have to be some wierd shaped thing. Ya know what's fun though? Taking an old (hopefully coastered) CD-R, spin it up in a lidless drive like that and jab at it with a knife. You get some pretty cool confetti
I know that this was already said but the case looks awsome... The fan grill is giving me some ideas... like the grill for the front of convergence... hmmm... NIce work on the project... keep up the good work.
I painted the inside blue. Humm might want another cathode light. only 1/2 glowing Im still working on mounting the CD drive
Good choice on the blue because it fits the case theme so well. Can't wait to see what else you have in mind. Keep on moddin.
honestly i think blue is over done, there are so many different colors but so many people use blue *sigh* oh well there choice
well I know it might be overdone but if he is going for a dark frost theme I don't think bright reds and yellows and greens would fite. If anything maybe black or better yet would have been white or a really light blue almost white (maybe a white with blue pearlescent)
that would looks so sweet, with white, cause i have only seen/see one case that is a white "themed" case, so if you did that i think it would look so good, but it's you choice, i'm just trying too broaden the veiw on modding
This is why you dont stick your finger in a cpu fan I bet you were expecting blood or something Heres what I found for a replacement.. 5 blades? meh This turned out to be a good thing, there seems to be more airflow over the hsf also the different fans dont resonate As for the rest of my project.. I have made a top window and enlarged the 120mm fanhole to fit 2 120m fans FAN of Choice *CLICK* 38mm deep Thoes will be run at 7V or be hooked to my PWM once I build it I want it to be powerfull yet silent time to get to work on an another acrylic fangrill for the top I think this will the 3rd time ive painted this I would like PWM circuit, but being cheap I decided to 7volt mod my case fan's To my surprise the led's dont light at all at 7volts I guess im off to make a pwm controler.
I have finished most of the case modding, now all I need is some wire management, the side 120mm and switches (probably 4-5 push button switches below front 120mm) I did some motherboard modding also little big? I had my 2500+ running at 2.25Ghz 43*C and something goes wrong I had the system laying on its side for the first few tests the heat sink dident keep contact with the cpu when I moved the system to the upright position yep its dead alright I think i crunched it then burnt it.. smells pretty bad for such a small thing ON a side note I built up a system for my mom.. aww its... blue the pII 266 with 192mb ram is quite decent for websurfing, email, word..ect ALSO I also finaly got some parts for my gamecube pc thanks to a laptop with a bad lcd yay a cd drive I finaly picked a board, it supports desktop cpu's 1ghz PIII is going to be the cpu of choice http://iei.industrialpartner.com/WAFER_7850.htm NOW your wondering what i did with the rest of the laptop.. I rebuilt an Iopener that some kid gave to me (i had to take the origional mod apart to use the HD in an other computer) here it is running next to my 19" moniter the back the laptop had a socket 7 Intel Tillamook processor its a pentium 233mmx that draws 7watts I stuck that in seems to be working fine looks like some sort of command station
We are again reminded the importance of test fitting cooling compoents prior to overclocking But thats messed up to blow up a nice cpu like that, hopefully you'll not make that mistake again
hey LabRat1. I was wondering If you want to trade cpu's? I have a cuple of p1 233mmx desktop chips. If that chip is so low power consumption Id like to oc it and see how high I can get it. I have goten one of the desktop p1-233 to run prime 95 for 3 days withought stoping at 300mhz. But the next step up it dosent boot. The other does the same but I have to lap the cpu. PLZ trade me. I want to see how high that thing will go;. Also could you tell me the specs on it? out of curiosity. Whats the voltage? I see the watage is 7w. Id love to see how high that thing could clock. Dare I say it? 400mhz? Sorry to hijack but I love ocing old cpu's to see the percentage oc on them. Btw the same mb also runs a k6-350@450 rock stable. LOL Sorry just lov ocing old crap till it hurts.
That is a great mod, I used to work at a shop where we sold those cases. Totally unrecognisable. Well done. looks amazing so far
thanks for all the response Its been fun all they way I have heard there is a way to make an iopener run a K6 CPU Right now Im not about to take that thing apart since i just got it back together, sorry As for the cpu I might as well just get an other 2500, My mother board showd it as an UNKNOWN CPU type ( I dident have to unlock it to OC!) anyway heres my the psu im getting. made by MGE
