I decided to go ahead and take all of my worthwhile computer parts I have (and a few not-so-worthwhile parts) and make a small gaming PC for any LAN parties I might go to.

For details and plans, click the picture below, for photos, simply scroll down :)

Here's a photo of the empty case, so you can have a better idea of what the renderings should look like:

    First Update:

First, marking the HDD for the Hard Drive Window Mod:

Then, after about 2 hours of cutting, sanding, and trimming plexiglass:

Yeah, it is a really poor job, but I got a little lazy and just used the first window I cut, and I also just used whatever clear glue was lying around.

Now that I've got a windowed drive, I need a place to put it, so I cut the expansions for the hard drive and CD ROM:

(You'll also notice the PSU is in there because I modded the PSU rack for a more standardized PSU)

    A few action shots:

The only downside is that the PSU practically touches the Graphics Card, but it's okay because I already burnt the card out :(
But on the bright side, the HDD still works and runs great! (which is good because it was my 40Gb drive)

that windowed HDD looks good and i like the place ment of it, very sexy, now just put some LED's shining on it :D but other than that it looks very good

and that case is very very small, i would recomend relocating the PSU if it's touching your Video Card, but thats just my thoughts

    Oops, almost forgot!

The dimensions are 1'-0.5" deep, 9" wide, and 1'-1.5" tall.
(just in case the pic is too hard to read) The case barely fits an ATX sized motherboard!

The PSU won't be a problem as I am replacing the graphics card with a smaller one, plus there aren't many more places for it! :p

Hopefully I will get to mount/window the CD ROM tomorrow, then I will start working on the new front/top bezel.

You are more than welcome to use any of the pics.

When the computer was new, it wasn't too bad, but after AMD was pushing Barton 3200's and I was still using a slot-A 1Gh cpu, I broke down and upgraded. Since then I've moved to a larger case, but kept this one for modding.
(and now, a year later, I'm finally modding it! :p)

Is that cd drive vertical? If it is, you might want to invest in a slot load drive. The regular tray ones tend to shed ur cds if you put them vertical. Beleive me...I experimented (*sniff* my 52x bit the dust due to this!)

Which is exactly why I make copies of my software on my main rig first (when EULA's permit)... I don't really plan on using the CDROM much, but I may later invest in a slot-loading one if this computer turns out worthwhile.
    Thanks for the tip!

actually its not much of an investment. Look on ebay for a Pioneer 106S. Got mine for the killer price of $15 +shipping. Can't beat that!

Almost a month later and all I have is an unfinished case window!

But at least it is something!

I decided to brand my case with my logo :p

It was more of a test of dremeling skills than anything. Unfortunately I left my digital camera in my wife's car, and she is at work at the moment, so I had to use my cell phone to take this.
I'll try to get some better pics later, probably after some sanding and polishing.

I have also decided to sand and polish the entire side pannels so it looks more brushed-steel and less beige.

Next weekend I'll try and get the CD ROM modded and mounted :D
