Hi, just installed my copy of Doom3 and i have to say its a great game but it just keeps crashing whcih is really annoying, my specs are: Athlon Xp 2200+ 512mb RAM Ati Radeon 9600pro plenty of disk space ive tried updating to the latest ati drivers and i have directx 9b installed, any ideas?
what graphical settings are you running it on? My friend has a similar spec PC and when he tries to run it at medium+ graphical settings the game freezes. Regards Jay
yea, that card is not good enough to run it better than medium... also try a lower screen resolution.
hiya, running it at 800x600 and medium quality, thought its wouldnt be too bad. Its not slow thought, a bit jerky but ok. cheers
With my system i found that if i overclock my cpu that it freezes and i have to clock down a bit. Is everything at stock?
When you say crashing what exactly do you mean? Are we talking Crashes to desktop, hangs the pc, reboots it what? Also what cat's are you running and have you got any idea of temps? DoomIII seems to really heavily test the system.
Strange, I can run it on low resolution, medium detail, with my system amd athlon xp 1900 @ 1.6GHz 512mb ddr pc2100 ram geforce 3 ti200 64mb video
Well it hangs and one of those error reporting windows pops up, when i usually click dont send it just goes back to the desktop. Not sure what temps, im going to install my temp monitor i had before for my motherboard to check. is there software i can get to test what temp my graphics card is?
thanks mate, ill try that, will installing a beta driver do any harm, if it causes problems i can allways uninstall it cant i?
yep, you shouldn't have problems though - I and many people have been using the driver for a while now and it's fine in DOOM 3 and every other game that I've played
overclocking 2600 mobile ok im using amd 2600 mobile with sp97 as5 antec tornado nf72 ocz p3500 low latency 1 gig(2x512) antec true blue 480 ati radeon pro 128 mb it seems like i can hit 2400(12x200)temps idle at 37.5 i thought i would be able to get a higher fsb with that ram. in the bios what ram settings do i use i see 3/3 up to 6/6? what ram timings? do i turn off cpu throttle? what volts for cpu n ram?
Has anyone tried the Image cache tweak? You can find it here methinks, looks good and it might solve your prob although my bet's on the drivers. http://www.forumplanet.com/planetdoom/topic.asp?fid=5733&tid=1438663
I am using the cache tweaks and a few others. I am currently running 1024 x 768, high details, and I get 61 fps on the timedemo. That's with a Radeon 9800Pro. The largest improvements in my fps came from turning off shadows (as dark as it is...do you really need them?), using the Cat 4.9 betas, and a few other tweaks. That image cache tweak really doesn't do anything for frames per second, but it seems to make the game play smoother since you pre-load the textures. To turn off shadows find the entry in the doomconfig.cfg: seta r_shadows "1" Change that to "0" to turn them off. I haven't even noticed a difference between them being off and on as far as the image quality and all goes.
I hope the next driver is called 5.0 and not 4.10. That confused the hell out of me when they went from 3.9 to 3.10.
ok guys, ive tried, updating to catalyst 4.9 beta, making sure AGP fast writes are off, using a low resolution and low quality and also tried that cache tweak and it still does the same.
