This is looking soooo cool!!!!! How hard was it the de-solder the pots and solder on ethe wires on the Rheobus? I am looking to do the same thing with mine.
Rheobus Hi tm36usa, It wasnt that hard to do it. The desoldering of the pots was the hardest part. You should trie to desolder 2 pins at the same time so you can get the pins out and bend the pot over. Installing the wires was a piece of cake. Just plug in a wire in the hole where the pin was and solder it on to the printplate (I think its best to solder it from the top) greetz, Joungne

According to this page LEDs break when subjected to reverse voltages greater than a few volt. LEDs are designed to emit light, the diode thing is just a side effect. The maximum reverse voltage is really low. It's been a while since I've played with electronics. I remember blowing up LEDs (as in one half of the plastic bit flew across the room) but I'm not really sure whether I did it with too much current or with a too high reverse voltage. Anyway, if those LEDs are in a small housing with other stuff you want to keep in one piece you may want to be careful. The case is looking beautiful . Now I just need to see the film...
Project HYPERCUBE² DAY 18 22/08/2004 DAY 18 Sunday 22.00 hours. I tried to get some work done this weekend. But it still keeps going slower then I expected. Anyway, here's Log 18 (captains log stardate.... My MOBO finally arrived this week The long awaited CHAINTECH 7NIF2 Micro ATX mobo with TV out onboard It looks kinda nice with all the black. Still need to replace some of the parts though, like the northbridge cooler, it sticks out like my legs on a sunny day on the beach . Little more detail. Ok next problem, I just realised that I only have about 5 cm above the mobo to put my CPU cooler. Any custom cooler is higher then this. I went on the internet and found me a Thermaltake K7 1U Tiny Fin Cooler for socket 462 3.4 ghz. Exactly what I needed. This is the cooler in all its glory. I already painted the fan and the cables chrome because they were plain black Placing of the MOBO. If everything is correct the bottom plate has the exact measurements of the mobo. I'm gonna attach it with copper standoffs I got for free at my local computerstore. The copper standoffs, in case someone was wondering what I meant by it... Fits perfectly. But will it fit in the alu frame? It does. I'm a happy modder now. I'm gonna make it in frosted plexi. Traced the backplate. Starting the cuts. Backplate in place, and a ALU profile on top and bottom to clean it up a bit. Now a heavy part. I need to make a hole in the RVS (INOX) backplate. This material is very hard and its very difficult even to get a hole with a drill in. After 2 hours of sawing with the jigsaw. It looks bad but its ok. Backplate in place. Still need to straighten out the edges, but its ok for now. (on the empty part on the right there will be the plug for the PSU 220V)
Project HYPERCUBE² DAY 18 II I forgot to take pictures of the following step, so i'll explain a little. I wasnt very happy with the silver foil on the plexi. All the edges were a bit off. I found some very intersting material in a hobby shop. Its a kind of perspex with a mirror finnish on it. Its approx. 1.5mm thick. I decided to use this for the outside of the case and leave the silver foil on and just flip the panels over. On the picture above you can see the perspex on the top and on the side. Note the white edges. More leds in the bottom plate of the core, these leds will light up the mobo and will be able to switch on and of with one off the toggle switches on the front. All wired up, dont mind my crappy solder skills... Look at the top left led, it has a bit of a yellow-green look. Think I have to replace that one :s Some more sleeving ahead. Sleeved the cables for the two HD's Still have to find a solution for the visible wires at the molex... Just to give you an idea how bright the cube allready is, and it still needs some more leds. Thats it for tonight. Still lots of things to do, but I'm getting there. Greetz, Joungne
