    Sony KV-32FQ86 TV, with cabinet - £662.93
    Sony SA-VE835ED speakers - £382.97

Personally for receivers/amplifiers for surround sound I would take a look at Denon or Marantz, speakers I wouldn't go for sony either - Mission do some pretty decent speaker packages for surround sound.

Also take a look at the KEF 'egg' speaker packages (KHT1005.2 and similar), these are similar in size to the Sony 'pascal' speakers you suggest, being more of a 'lifestyle' type of surround speaker rather than massive hifi style floorstanders, but I'd warrant that they're a fair bit better than the Sonys.

    :)

ive got maranz av amp and a stereo amp (+2 cd players, dvd player, tape deck...) and theyre good. cheapest marantz av amp is around the £200 mark and it comes in silver, u could get matching dv6400 (sacd/dvd/cd player) for around £350 too. guaranteed to sound better.

I agree on the seperates (tv is ok) but look into Wharfedale/Mission the likes speakers, much better value for money. As already said, check out Richer Sounds and the AVForums.

Firstly, hello anyone and everyone, as Im sorta new here...

The TV is fine (though Id get a panasonic, they tend to be a bit nicer quality, but sony are good too).

Id go for a Denon 1804 Reciever (here: http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_15785.html for £300, a Panasonic DMR 55 DVD recorder (here: http://www.richersounds.co.uk/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=dmre55r2 for £209), and depending on budget either a set of wharfedale diamond cinema speakers for about £300 (see here: http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/diamond8.htm, and here: http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=1038), or if your budget stretches that far, either the Acoustic Energy Evo 3B system (here: http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=558 for £760) or the monitor Audio Bronze B2 AV system (here: http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=2177 for £650).

Also, don't forget to budget for some speaker cable...

My Marantz sr4400 reciever is great, real good sound, even with the crappy speakers im using, still saving for new ones. Its about £220 in richer sounds where i got mine, As for the rest of the setup, cant really help.
