So first thing I'm doing now I have a new car is geeking it out Car itself is a Renault Laguna 1.8 RT I was going to use a lilliput screen but I found out I can get a fold away modded one from the states for £263 7" LCD touchscreen this would hook up to a small EPIA-M 10k in the glove box housed with the PSU and hard drive in a box 170~ x 170~ x 70~ mm mock up: this would be connected to a GPS unit for sat nav and a wifi antenna for netstumbler/ file transfer. So far I have EPIA 10000 mobo 256Mb DDR 80Gb HDD USB GPS wifi antenna So I need Screen (£263~) wifi card that can take "n" pigtail in (£19~) PSU (£50~?) amp for rear/front to the car speakers (£25?) so looking at spending £357 or so I guess any input? ideas? I'm a bit worried about hooking up the audio as never touched in car audio before I assume small amps are pretty easy to hook up?
I saw a japanese man on top gear sometime last year who built a tiny pc and placed it into the radio slot in the car, going to the BBC website - top gear may have some info? - Its a cool mod
yea this is possible but the room left after the flip out screen wouldn't allow me to fit all the gubbins in without buying the latest small hardware (read £££) cool none the less
273BeLow I'm doing the same thing but my m10K going in the boot! Have you got a link to the screen (might just save me a lot of hassle trying to get the lilliput screen to come out of the dash). thanks
I'm not a boy racer I'm a geek by amp I mean something that can take rca in and power four normal car speakers not scare little old ladies the screen you can get here it's expensive but well worth it. http://digitalww.com/DWW-7VGT.htm none for two weeks tho... I'm in first!
why the boot? this way I don't need to run any huge cables inside the car (video especially) other than fro mthe wifi antenna on the back. The 10k is small enough even with a PCI card and stuff to shove in a glove box as my model proved. Just need to rip the dash to bits when I do it
I'm gonna be making it part of my install in my boot + my glove box isn't big enough or anywhere near the right shape and i'm not messing about with my heater matrix to get it to fit. thanks for the link
for most CD players and aftermarket stereos they have two RCA plugs for input so you could plug that in there. ive seen a cheap standard CD player that mysister bought for $20 USD with it. i may be able to sell you one if yours doesnt have it, or you could just goto any store that sells car CD players and pick one up for not that much.
the screen goes where the cd player/stereo is (who needs a stereo with 20k mp3's I need an amp to hook the pc directly up to the speaker cables.
