DEFINATELY NOT NAILPOLISH REMOVER! Or Isoprepronal - eitehr one will eat through the window. Soap and water will do.

    dawn.

    i repeat- dawn.

if you are careful it wont scratch the window at all. just make sure you rinse it well or dust will stick to it.
and dont use windex- it can cause hazing and spiderwebbing.

Acetone will have an abrasive sort of affect on acrylic...It won't quite eat it away, but your cloth will leave scratches. I have no heard of isopropyl alcohol doing the similar, maybe a little bit, not sure if it's noticable.

I had a similar situation on a window once. I had tried to tint it and it came out looking like crap. So I pulled the tint off and tried to remove the adhesive that was left over. I gave up and spent the $5 to get a new piece of acryllic. Everything I tried either had no effect or just made the problem worse.

electrical contact cleaner is good. If you can't find any, then WD40 will work too

Indeed, contact cleaner is excellent and safe for many surfaces. So is WD40, the residue can be removed with even mild cleaners like Dial soap.
