I'm with Mr P, that's proper shiny, how hard wearing is that finish, it's not going to scratch easily is it?

 

it's probably quite easy to scratch.. but I don't plan on scratching it and I'm wondering if i should apply wax. and pollish

 

I'm thinking with something that nice in your room, you're probably have to polish it, or at least dust it regularly, especially if your room's anything like mine
So what's left to do then? fit the windows, light them, any internal lighting? and fitting the components, anything else you've got planned (You realise there's no way you can ever 'finish' a mod, there's always something else to do... )

Things to do:
*finish bondoing and sanding the front.
*paint and wet sand the doors and top
*Rub the top, front, and doors with rubbing compound
*Insert the windows
*fix all the leds and wiring
*Cut the dvd burner so it will look cool from the top
*Cable mannagement
*Install all the components

I will only light it up with the leds form the windows and 2 or 3 10cm uv cathodes, and the light form the fans.

oh! And I will mod the fan inside the psu.. change the leds from blue, to green.

and I think it is smart to wax the case... because I tend to throw things around (like just putting the cds on the top of the case etc...)

Hi! Thanks pal I have had a break from the project, due to lack of motivation... but now I have got the spirit back and today I have modded my dvd burner. unfortunately my photobucket account is full so I have to get another one to continue posting pics. I have now most likely sprayed the final coat on the top panel, and when I get time I will sand and rub it with the rubbing compound I bought some time ago.

I think I won't have time to get a new acount tonight, but I'll do it tomorrow

Dvd burner Modded

Ok here are the pics. I'm going to paint it one more time, and insert the plexi.

Looking good mate, glad to see you back. Nice to see it's not only me who forgets to paint the volume wheel on the CD drive
I just coloured over mine with pen in the end, not like I ever use it...
I'm guessing doom3 had something to do with the lack of motivation?

 

hehe doom 3 really killed my motivation in everything, because it was in french! I don't really know the reason for my loss of motivation, but I think the school start had much to do with it

I have just fit the plexi in the dvd... I had some problems Which I will explain in my next update.

BTW: I didn't care much about the volume wheel but maybe I'll paint it just for the over-all look...

 

DVD Finished

I here's today's work. I have finished the dvd mod... Cut plexi, installed it, and modded the frame to fit.

First I fit the plexi


When I had glued the plexi in place and I thought I was finished, I noticed the mistake I had made by not thinking of the frame holding the inside of the dvd burner, when I cut and glued the plexi.... So I had 2 choises: cut the plexi, or cut the frame.... I chose nr.2 (where I cut is marked by red)


And It fit like a glove!


I didn't choose an eye catching design on the dvd window because I don't want it to fight for the attension against the dragon engraved in the top window.


EDIT: DAMN! I just installed the dvd... and the tray opens 1 second after I closed it!! maybe I have to go for the mesh after all...... I'l figure it out tomorrow... It bumpes into the plexi on it's way in so I guess that's the problem...

No such thing as a video card that will play doom 3... not on extreme mode anyway ... why they develop a game for a 512mb graphics card before the card is out is beyond me...

I bought it in a shop called "biltema" (translated means car theme). But I am sure you can find at least 10 people from the uk that has bought and used bondo in the uk here. maybe some one will answer if I post:
