Moving on, I have started making the Intakes.

Here is half of one side I went through 4 cheapo disks on this.

    and annother view

thats the top half of an intake, The bottom will just be without the two appendages. To join them, I will bend the appendage things and use rivets to hold it all together. To fill in the middle rectangle that I will have, I was thinking about cutting out plexiglass to fit.

as far a s the motor goes why not just use the one that the cd rom originally had??

all you would have to do is move it, and change the gearing system on it.

One think to be careful of is that no light leaks into the drive.

I Had a drive that wouldn't work if the faceplate was removed. that could explain your issues.

Here are the tops of the intakes

these will be the bottom (still have to bend them)

This is kind of what the above will look like when assembled

I finished bending and cutting the alu for the intakes, I was fitting the parts together and using rivets to hold them when one of the tabs I made snapped off. This isnt good, I either have to remake a piece, or change how I assemble the Intakes. They are comming along, just not as fast as I would like, and with far too many problems, which come from me being careless

I actually looked into that, but it looked like it would take a lot more power, and when I only have 240w to work with, I should be carefull. It all doesnt matter right now anyways, I have to figure out the intakes. They prettymuch run the entire length of the case and I need to figure out how to stick them in without crippling the case. Il have pics soon to show my issues

I decited to redo the intakes, and figured out a better way to do them. I found some 2mm metal that I thought It was alu, it turns out to be way too hard to be alu. That is good if you exclude the fact that its costing me 5-6usd a side in disks. Here is a pic of how I plan to do it this time
    [IMG]
Im going to cut the outline of the top&bottom of the intake, then fold it outward. Then Im going to finish it with some sheet aluminum. The top will be plexiglass (with the bottom painted white) the top and side will be connected with some 2mm angled aluminum. Im going to drill holes on the back so the new case will be mounted very similar to the stock case. I will have pics tomorow of everything.

Intakes are cut and bent, looks good, fits well. I am now working on modding the psu to fit a slot fan I made out of a slim zalman 80mm fan. The fan will be the psu's new exhaust, pushing air out through the rear end of the intake.
