Ooh, I'd like one that's integrated with samurize :) I know the stock winamp plugin is 18 bars wide (configurable though) so you could have it use every other one for an analyzer type thing, and of course the classic VU meter which would just be on a peak volume type of deal.

Yeah, I quick downloaded Samurize tonight, and I'll fool around with it to see what kinda XML results and outputting I can get, and see A. How frequent it is, and B. See if I can quick pop out a program to work with it

Just out of curiosity... would it be possible to do something like this with an output plugin instead of visualization? Because then I can't use my LCD for winamp stats and whatnot :waah: That's the one thing I hate about winamp.. only one vis plugin at once.

I seem to remember, there is a plugin that alows you to run more than one vis at the same time. This is way back in the day tho (like >4 years ago) and it was pretty buggy and slow. Try checking out the winamp site, sorry but I can't remember the name, or indeed any useful information at all.
I'm lloking forward to a serial version of this, shame I can't do anything to help.

gonna pull this one up back from the grave. I got most of my stuff ready for the serial port. If you guys will provide schematics I'll take a crack at building one.

Grudge - any chance you think you could get winamp to export its full VU meter in the 1-10 section scale? My offers still open to you guys for the bit of $ threw paypal, its not much, but high schools been a killer on my wallet. Hope we can get this project back together

I'll get some pictures of mine up soon.

It's going slowly due to other work, but it's coming along nicely. Not interested in the money. I'll have some more information before the end of the week and maybe even a download...

I dont understand the thing about using brighter leds, I have ones that ask for 20ma, will that damage the port?

Damn all your parallel port stuff

Just use a few PICs for all your external control and display
    (LEDs, fan controller, etc)

That way you can daisy chain them and share one serial port instead of wasting the parallel port when it can be used for something sexy like a graphic LCD (sorry huge pic, too lazy to scale)

    Hi..

I found this thread thru google...

I was trying to do the winamp mod, but, for some reason, it will not work for me, user port sucks, and the winamp dll file kept giving errors, using winamp 2.76 and 2.95.

I have tried a few other apps, and it has been pretty worhtless, I would like to get my hands on a working version of DigiMeter, 1.7 does nothing for me, I went thru and tried to remove all the other port stuff, and, nothing.

Please, email me the working version.

sc0tty8@gmail.com, please. I woudl appreciate it much, and I can host some files also, as long as they are not too big.

    edit:\Figured it out, I feel like a n00b...

a potentiometer (forevermore referred to as "pot") has three pins, left to right they are A,B, and C. if you connect B to any other pin, you're good, but A to C will just make a resistor of the max value of the pot.

splice in A and B on the "Gnd" line to control the brightness of the LEDs

remember that it doesn't matter which wire goes to the middle or side, just that the right pins/solder lugs are connected.
