    that sounds a bit hot tbh. i idle at 38*c with a Zalman7000, 2500+ @ 11*200 1.88v (yeah, i know, it sucks).

and going from 166 > 182fsb shouldn't be 5*c difference. it would be maybe 1 or 2*c imho.

Well the two hard disks can go into the drivebays using rails and you should have room on the floor for the pump.

Also depends on what PCI cards you're using.

Fwiw I've four disks squeezed into the rig:
1 in spare 3.5 hdd space
1 behind the 3.5 fan controller
1 upside down in the top bay behind the RD2 panel, under the top mounting plate
1 on the mounting plate, sideways held down with tape!

Not ideal but if you need go fit stuff there's always a way. Spend a long time lookign at the case and seeign what you can fit in.

You don't need to worry about space for hard drives in a PC60. If you have the rad at the front of course you will have to remove the 5 bay cage. But if you mount the rad on it's side it should fit exactly under the 3 1/2 cage.

Depends. How many drives do you need to accommodate in total? Here's an install of 2 HDDs, 2 DVD/CD-RWs, one floppy and a multi-media card reader:

here is an example of what a properly configured system should look like

notice the orientation of the rad on its side ( btw that is a pc60 case)

and the very low amount of tubing used.

that is a picture of It_The_Cow s system at overclockers.com btw

hmmm I was wondering about that. Could I not bother with a res and just put a t piece in and run it to the top of the case. Then just put one of those fill points up there from danger den? That would make things a bit easier on space.

Good move. A res is always optional.

...and it's an example of elegant minimalist modding. Nice work, Thorilan! :thumb:

The bracket in question can be bought as is, or as a set with a CD-Rom and FDD fitted. It is a component originally intended for rackmount servers, and as such can only be bought at companies that specialise in 19" rackmount server equipment, in Asia and the USA (at a way too high price, really -- around $35,-- for just the bracket). They come with and without USB ports, and in black or PC beige.

In the UK you can get them too (e.g. wordsworth.co.uk) but at a price premium.

Google for FCD-501, FCD-502 and FCD-503 (the first two are like the ones you see here, one with USB ports and one without; the FCD-503 accomodates a flat laptop floppy thus leaving some space for a laptop HDD. The ultimate in space saving!). They're not cheap, but in my case offered the best solution...

The most helpful company (and cheapest) that I found who sells these is Vox Technologies.

Thanks for the reply Nexxo, what Laptop DVD drives do you recommend? :)

How did you order from that website you recommended and how long was delivery, did you get taxed etc?

    Thanks :)

I just e-mailed them for orering details, and then placed the order by phone, I think. I choose them because they took credit card and shipped abroad (a lot want banker's drafts or make things difficult in other ways --they're not used to dealing with private buyers). Delivery was ten days or so. I did get taxed, unfortunately, as there is import duties on computer equipment. :( As I said, it was expensive, but the only solution available to me. However you can often avoid tax and duties if you use ANY courier other than Fedex. Avoid Fedex at all costs. UPS is good.

Laptop drives? They're all good, really. But only the Panasonic/Mashushíta drives come as slot loaders (so if you want that feature, your choice is limited). Nowadays you can get them as DVD-RAM/CD-RW drives. Tests show they do take more CPU power than most drives, and are not the fastest, but they are very quiet and much less picky than other drives, making very few coasters.

OK, i've managed to install all these components into my PC61 case:

    -6 HDDs (All in RAID)
-Dual 120MM Rad (Black Ice Extreme 2)
    -ClearFLEX 1/2" ID Tubing
-Reservoir (Had to mount externally because of space restrictions :p
    -Silverprop CPU and GPU blocks.

It was a bitch to get everything in - I had problems getting the PSU in the first time, but I reversed the rad and everything fitted.

Check out the pics of the PC here:

    http://pcdb.overclockers.com.au/view.php?name=DeNs&page=pics

Summary: If you want decent components, like BA heatercores, etc. Then you're going to have a fun time fitting it all in.
