thanx again guys!!! :D :D appreciate the positive feedback

today i wanted to get some more work done on the LCD mod, the idea was to make the whole assembly part of the side panel.

Meaning that the circut board, power inverter and wiring would all be monted to the back of the unit (inside the case)

For this i'd have to make a rear protection panel. and of course outa clear plexi :)

Constructing the mod as a single unit will make it easier to work on the case , as it will simply be part of the side panel.

First up was to mark holes in the back panel

and mesure for the custom clear plexi spacers i was going to have to hand-make.

Once the spacers and my fingers were filed down to the right size , next was to cut /drill sand and buff what will become the back protection panel

Next was time to assemble the unit using the spacers, chrome screws and bolt thru all 3 sections.

once the rear was assembled next was to then bolt the asseble to what will be the side plexi window.

This time Clear plexi screws are used. tightened to create a sandwich effect that locks the LCD panel between the 2 panels.

    cheers

    Truely awesome work, man! :D
What would steel washers look like combined with the clear screws? Just a thought..
You really should get a large lcd/display for the front of the case.. :naughty:

You have an awesome, clean, and professional style to your mods...truly great.....

I just wanted to make humble suggestion...While I love the LCD mod with blue el wire...the el wire looks a bit....less clean then every thing else you have with such clean and perfect edges...

To make it look really great you could get the "Frosted Glass" spray "paint" for Home Depot or Lowes and paint the glass tubing encasing the el wire....this would give the look you are going for and hide the "wiggly" look of the el wire....In fact it would really give an awesome blue glow to the whole thing :cooldude: ....

Let me know what you think even its just to say "that sucks" hahaha

Keep modding man Awesome STUFF!! :dremel: :dremel: :dremel:

Hey, Morphs kinda got a point, that would look cool, but also on a side note, doesn't putting an LCD on the window, kinda counter the idea of a window in the first place??

The purpose of the window is to show off the work under the "skin" of the case. There are many purposes. His purpose is that his old side panel had the window in it and plexiglass would make a great mount for his LCD.

If you're that worried about it, I'm sure he could take a picture of the inside and use it as the background on the LCD :p

I agree with the EL-wire comment, everything else is done so well but the EL wire throws it off by being "wiggly." If you could somehow change it or mask it with the frosted glass technique it might look pretty smooth.

thanx Prov :) thats exactly right, :thumb: im going to try the EL Light tube mod one more time, see if i can get it to feed thru streight, if not i agree with you guys and will scrap the idea.

I like the idea of the frosted tube, but the theme of the case is as much clear plexi as possible.

I've seen similar "solid" tubes of the clear plexy! might play with the idea of bending some of that, putting an LED at one end and seeing how that lights up.

Thanx for all the ideas and comments guys i am reading :) :)

Ok I didn't say i was worried about, it, i just was curious. :p back at ya!

Def, I thought of an idea instead of using EL Wire, why not try EL Strip??
http://www.svc.com/ellightedstrip.html I found this, i think it would help clean up the wavy look, just a thought.

I bet that you've written this earlier in this thread, but: where do you get those acrylic spacers?
