How come? They are called cold cathodes for a reason. And no, there will be no airflow anyway. And no, there are no components on the back of my board. Anyway, as Protius-X mentioned, I'm watercooling all the bits that matter.
Nice working i like your new ideas you have with the light effect. So simple but so nice results ! Your works gives new power to the modding and to others. This simple acylic construction givs a nice result i will implemet this in my work as well , thanks for the idea.
Great idea with the back lit mobo! Really nice effect, I can see this becoming a "standard mod". I'm going to have to see what my mobo looks like backlit now!!
Agreed, but I've never had a problem with any of mine. Plus, being as it is a glass tube coated with a phosphur and containing mercury vapour, I don't see how one type can product mure heat than the other. but yeah, I've felt some hot oens before, so I'm not gonna argue. I want the DangerDen NV-68 block for it...but don't want to spend £75 on a block when I have a perfectly good Maze 4 GPU here. Anyone want to buy a Maze 4 GPU block and help fund 'Operation: Get a NV-68' .

The backlit mobo is an excellent idea. I wish I could find cathodes for £1.44 each. If I don't find a job soon I'm seriously going to have to rob somebody to get my computer online, I'm using my parents' computer and still living at home.
I was thining of using an old screen to do that, but mine were all too small. Also, it would probably be a bit dim (since lappy's have to be dim to save power).
Sorry for only a small and lonely update...I've been busy playing with my new toy. The cathodes arrived, four white ones to replace the two that would have backlit the motherboard. Mmmm, bright. And with the motherboard in place: A nice glow all over the board. The dark patches are where there are no translucent parts. The cathodes then got the dremel treatment...they will be mounted later in the project. Cathodes parted form their tubes. Thats it for the backlit motherboard for now...next up is actally making the case. I started with the motherboards IO shield. Shield measured. Dremeled up. Filed and sanded, and in place. I later found that my measurements were wrong, and that the slow had been cut too shallow. So, it needed marking, dremmeling, sanding and filing again to get it perfect. All in place. And a close-up. Stay tuned for more...I'm spending this time getting the panels down to size and ready to mount. Very soon, I shall need your opinion on the top panel screw locations.
Ok, so I need to think up how I should go about bolting the top and bottom panels on, i.e. where I should put the screws. I've come up with a few designs that I roughly made in Paint, and I could do with your feedback. 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: I've also got a template in case anyone wants to draw out some more for me.
