Hey, I'm back. I guess there's some new modders in town who have never heard of me, and hopefully some of the old ones who still remember me from my active days on this forum. I haven't done much serious modding lately, I've focused mostly on my furniture projects. I have, however, used techniques I have learned here at Bit-tech in many of my furniture projects. So, on to my project: I have gotten a hold of the exact same case that I used for my Steel case project. Here's the case: I found out that it has this fine meshed removable air filter, so I'm definitely going to put some fans in front. I'm going to have the HDD mounted on the bottom of the case, having the front fans blow air straight over it: The chassis all stripped down and ready for painting: Painted the chassis with a "chrome" paint. It's not as reflective as real chrome, but at least it's gray and shiny I'm using the same bezel, but I don't care much for all those grooves and stuff all over it, so I'm filling them, as well as removing the holes for LEDs and switches. You are welcome to come with ideas and comments. I haven't planned much for this project, so I'm doing it on the fly.
Nice case! We have them at school in the ADT department! Some ancient machines...didnt think they had a removeable mobo tray though! Nice paintwork so far, looking good, keep it up and ogod luck with the bondo.!
Thanks to everyone showing interest I haven't done much on the project today except working with the putty to fill all the gaps on the bezel. I realized that the big slap of putty I used where the old power button used to be just didn't cut it. It was still wet when I checked it this morning, so what I did was to remove the putty from the hole, and build it out with a piece of balsa wood. The balsa wood is easy to work with, and brittle enough for the new putty to stick: This is the bezel with some of the putty sanded smooth: After taking this picture, I have puttyed and sanded the bezel once more, to fill all small cracks and such. I have puttyed and sanded the power button hole three times. Pictures of this in the next update. Regarding the color scheme, I really don't have one. I'm just doing a plane black/grey case, thinking about red, white or green for lighting.
Hi, I have one like your case. I'm planned to modding it ... (sigh !! ...). One thing : I've some problems with my Zalman PSU. It's closely with the CPU cooler. I'm trying to place in the case base. I think that's the better solution if you planned to support some hardware with a powerful PSU. I'm still searching the best place ... Other thing: The rail is a great solution but never with the new CPU's. Always you must to remove the fan cooler to extract the mobo. Good luck and mod on .. Suscribed ... Mr. DNA
