    I have an FX5200 that came with my computer and i must say that i am extremely disappointed with the quality. Can anyone suggest a better card from nVidia or ATI in the under 200$ price range

    i dont know what graphics cost in your country but if i convert to mine id say a 9800pro would fit you like a glove :D

    If your wanting to stay a few bucks under the $200 mark you have.....

    9800 Pro for ATI - great card

    FX5900xt for nVidia - also good card but the 9800 is better so grab it unless your a hardcore nVidia fan. This is the card I have and I can play CS:S (about the only game I play) at 60 to 80 FPS with ease at 1024 x 768 with my 2.2 P4. I must warn you this card benches like crap with 3dmark05 - I got 970......but you wont have any trouble with games. I still say grab the 9800 the only reason I didnt was at the time the 9800 was stil 250+ and my card was 180 on sale.

    6600GT for sure. its a little more then a 9800 pro but sweeps the floor with it

    can anyone tell me what the benchmarks are on 3d mark for 9800 pro and the 6600gt on a 3.2 P4 w/ HT ... because i got 1200 with the fx5200

    Don't be so blummin patronising! :p What they're trying to say is that 3DMarks isn't a great real-world comparison of graphics card capabilities-you're better off comparing the fps of a particular game if you want to know how they compare :)

    Futuremarks website allows you to look and sort the scores.......1200 wow that does suck.

    I got 5400 3dmnark03 with a 5900xt and a 2.2Ghz P4 with 512 MB RAM........your setup should spank mine.

    a)Yes I reckon the 6600GT is your best option
    b)Something like FRAPS will give you FPS of any game

    Many games have unbuilt commands to view fps, not sure what it is for ut2004 as I dont play it but it is cl_showfps 1 or net_graph 3 for hl1/2 and cg_drawFPS (I think) for q3 etc etc.

    In UT2004 it's TAB to enter the console then "stat fps" to display the framerate
