Dunno about where to get the film in the US, but i mounted my 2*20 using a load of hot melt glue.

Why do you want polarising film for a VFD?

Considering how large that VFD is, I don't think you'll be able to mount that in a drive bay. Most people just mounted them externally in acrylic stands or something. By the way, VFD polarizing film? Aren't VFDs already legible enough to not need that? If you're talking about inverting them, I'm not sure you can, I haven't seen anybody do it yet.

Are you talking about a filter?

maybe the dimensions of the bg micro one should be mentioned... they're about 8x3... roughly... barely fit in some of the smaller (narrower) cases out there

it can be run via serial OR parallel but most people go serial cuz it only requires 3 wires to hook up.

i'm going to use lighting gels to filter my VFDs. they are used in theatre to filter spotlights, etc. there's a theatre/stage lighting shop near where i live where i'd get my stuff. the two most popular gels are roscolux and GamColor.

i just got mine though the post, still cheaper than anywhere else and i live in the UK. You want filter if you want different colors for the VDF, if you live in the UK then maplin sell the stuff (just bought some) but there outta stock of the dark blue :sigh:

It can be both serial and parallel, most people choose serial because you get a full 10 custom character set, but with parallel you only get 4...so when you run that winamp plug-in if goes funny (i think thats how it works - takes a long time to read 80 pages on a forum). Plus serial is waaaaay easer to wire up.

If you need any info on the VDF check the [H]ard forums.

Drastik Thanks for the post... i just order me one to play with. Looks like a pretty sharp little unit and the price was right.

bLiNdPyRo: BTW it is already capable of being inverted.. its built right onto the board...

Now the really hard part...waiting for the ups guy to bring it to me

Anyone have a quick and easy pin-out to wire her up? What would be better serial or parallel?
