Picked this up over the weekend...an ELECTRIC Moped/bicycle 300w...
waited over 2 months for it to arrive. Now i cant ride it cause theres snow on the ground and its cold.
Its street legal... requires no licence.... no insurance... no plates.
Its legally considered an "electrically assisted bicycle" so it fits under the bicycle laws.
Its top speed is 33km/h and can last 50km on a single charge. It takes 6 hours to charge. It also charges while going downhill.

I had a certain budget limit... and this thing was the only thing I could afford. A gas motor moped cost twice as much as this thing.

i dont imagine there are really any tuning options available for electric motors.

but if you can make it lighter it will go faster.

i dont think so, cause when i lift the back end of the bike off the ground, the spedometer still maxes out at 33km/h.... the same speed i can reach when riding the thing.... I figure that it could do more cause if with my weight and the friction of the ground, the bike can still reach 33km/h, and it reaches that speed without weight or friction, then something is limiting it from going faster.

Is there anything I can change?

Anyone know what that device is in picture 4?

Less mass will have a minimal effect on increasing top speed. Looks like its geared for a max of 33 if thats the max itll reach with the wheel off the ground, assuming it has a gearbox of some sort :)

As for that device, possibly a voltage regulator/controller of some sort, going on the voltage and current markings :)

It doesn't have a gearbox - it will be direct drive.

That device is a controller. It probably contains drive FETs and some controller circuitry. You will find that the motor is PWM.

You could make it go faster by modifying the controller circuitry.

Sorry I can't help out more, will post again when I find out more about it Head is a bit thrashed at the minute :)

    i just realised, isn't 33km/h sorta ~20mph?

sorry but why didn't you just save up a bit more???

for something that goes 20mph is it worth it?

Guess you could overclock the motor thing :p make it double the volts add another batty (so it wont go flat) and then you get bit more speed??

    i duno, just a guess :p

money was really tight and so this was my only option.

Any ideas on how to change the circutry or something in the controller to make it go faster would be awesome. I want this puppy to fly.

looks like the motor is in the weel itself. Direct drive motor.... You could posibly get it to go faster if you aded more voltage to the thing.... But you have to be carefull as the more juice you pump on it the higher the wear and tear on your motor.... Well maybe im wrong about motor being inside the weel, but thats where I would put it if i were the designer....

the only way i see it going faster, ride it down lots of steep hills.
otherwise there is always the potential :dremel:
