by the way i have a terrbile noise under the engine, i've lifted the car on the raiser and found out that the catalyst under the engine judders, hammers to the protective metal sheet, ive tryed to solve the problem by inserting a suspender(a piece of garter) but the noise still disturbs me.. any ideas??

I know the answer, you need a new cat fitted.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have the same generation P Reg Renault Megane Classic (Saloon model.)

Not so long ago I had a metal rattly sound from within the catalyst and took it to be checked at STS Stapletons, yep it needed replacing.

This is quite common because this the age of this generation.

A dodgy old cat can cause problems sometimes.

Get it replaced, it will most likely be £160 +.

Megane, lucky *******, even if youve gotta share it. I've always loved the styling of Meganes and they seem pretty quick too!

As for the license, as I say to all my mates - passing makes you the second least experienced drivers on the road - just slightly above learners and miles behind the 'old boring folks' that you want to beat! Fight against the "get there first" instinct.

my driving instuctor knows about ice. a few days ago he was on a lesson with an 18 yr old new driver. while they were drivng down this road they saw a car ahead of them 'wobble' a bit then start going straight again. it gets closer and starts 'wobbling' again but it doesn't stop and couple of seconds later the car 'wobbles' into the front of his ford focus and writes it off. the learner driver wasn't phased , he spend the rest of the lesson watching the other car being pulled out of the field next to him.

Saw a metro totally spin out on the roundabout leaving Asda car park the other day. Suprised really as it wasn't even very slippery.

its about the 5th car he's had this year. he had about 8 totaled when he worked for BSM.he said that it took the whole front off ie engine, axle etc. pretty dangerous like.
