    Do you have any pics?

what kind of case is it?
what does he have in the case?
is the computer still plugged in? Becuase that'll make it hard to move, giving the inpression that it is actualy really heavy.

Really the only way to decrease weight is to simply take things out (although there's not much you can take out and make it functional unless he's thrown a microwave or something in there... :worried: ), or to replace the case with lighter materials. If its that old, it's probly just one big steel case, like an old Gateway I took apart, damned thing was manufactured like a tank. I would suggest just buying a new case.

If the metal is that hard just cut it out and use wood or winodw the hole thing. Just screw some plexi glass to the frame that will take the weight from the side panels donw.

If you really really want to decrease weight and spend next to nothing, just take off everything you can from the case, leaving just a frame holding your parts, and cover it in plastic wrap. Cheap, easy, and it works.

    :hehe:

For the price of acrylic, and the time it would take to cut all that steel, you may be better off buying a new case. Although, I know I would enjoy modding it more than buying it. :dremel:

    Get a new case.

Don't cut an old steel case, they're so nice.
You cut that and I'll :waah:

My case is one of those that can be perfectly called TANK. :D
    It's so nice. :)

LOL I have one like that as well it is like 5 years old lol.
Well they are heavy but at least you know it is metal not some crap metal replacement.
Look at some of new crap cases. You pick up a box and it weights about the same as good power supply. You go home and turns out power supply is included with the case inside the box ;) lol.
For example my case total weight is about 15-20KG.

Another benefit of having a huge old heavy case is their not very attractive for a thief to steal either.

Fuksis and Slater were right - holes, holes and more holes, just be careful the bottom doesn't fall out when you pick it up. ;)

Id try to cut as much of the steel away, just leaving the basic frame intact. Then i would replace the cut out steel with some cheap mesh.

I would do as x3x3non said, but use some sort of plastic instead of mesh. If the case is built like I think it is, then the frame will be very sturdy.

He yea may be but know that they will take it any way ;)
If you don’t want it to be stolen just take it apart and let all cables stick out ;)
You know cd-room on top hdd sticking from side and stuff.
If they see that not only they won’t want it they will be a bit sacred of it as well lol.
