    Hello,
I have a server and I would like to server up my web page. I want a secure web server that is easy to set up and has php, mysql, etc. Security isn't really a major concern because (1) it's just a personal website and (2) it's not like it's going to be known worldwide. On my old server I used a web server called Abyss. It gave me everything I wanted, but I just wanted to see if there was any better. I've also heard of Apache but havn't given it any try yet.

    Hey-

I use Abyss on my server, works great. Haven't found anything better for home web hosting.

IIS On a 2k3 Server. My choice because i use a lot of ASP and ASP.Net also slips right into MMC snap-ins and everything so administration is easy. Although may need a move beefy machine.

All you need is a Win XP Pro OS and phpDev.

    From the phpdev site:

    Couldn't be better, heh.

Abyss was actually really great, but it just seems like other web servers have more advanced things. Or I'm just dreaming... I guess I'll go for Apache (phpDev). Although, I'm sure it's more secure than Abyss in terms of like methods, but since Abyss isn't known, Apache is probably less safe. Like I said though, it doesn't bother me too much.

    Wow phpDev is pretty awesome.

This is a litte off topic but here it goes. Which is better, the forums that installed with phpDev (Inivison Board) or phpBB? (phpBB.com) But wait I have a question. Inivison Board isn't free, so is the board that phpDev installed a trial?

(I solved the Inivison Board "trial". There is no trial, it's free but you must follow the rules and support costs, etc. Still, which is better, IB or phpBB?)

This is even more off topic, but where can I get something that will portal whatever I have in the forums to my index page.

    Thanks,
    Alacritous

    OK well I installed phpBB.

Now I just need a portal system. Can anyone recommend something? phpNuke seems a little complicated. I'd rather get something that is easier.
