generic 400w able to power OCed xp-M system with nfs-s rev.2 amd athlon Xp-m 2500+ 2x256 pc3200 geforce 4200Ti maybe 9800pro? 80gb segate sata Hdd Cd/DvD r+-
shouldnt really want to run it on a generic 400w PSU. it would be a shame if that gear went boobs up wouldnt it due to a poor supply, and if your overclocking then id make sure it was a quality one.
Depends how generic you're going, summit like a qtec *might* be ok, wouldnt risk it either way tbh. PSU is something you shouldnt skimp on
im not sure if to get a realy cheap xp-m system for about £200 or go for a a64 system for about £600 its alot of money and could you suggest any which would be adaquite for powering this system at a reasonable price?
I would say the A64, because at this point the 64's beat any overclock of a 32-bit XP, if not simply because of the on-die mem controller. Plus it's futureproofing. However...600 quid?? What, are you looking at an FX-55 and the best mobo available? (an exaggeration, but still...) You can get a 3000+ s939 winnie and a decent mobo for ~200 quid, and overclock the snot out of it...
well it goes: a64 3000+ winne asus a8n-sli xfx geforce 6600GT pcie seagate sata150 80Gb Hdd corsair xms4400 twinX pt 2x512mb ram which pretty much costs about £600 with a psu
i might just get a tagan: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Tagan.html#aCA_2d000_2dTG Tagan TG480-U01 480W ATX2.0 Silent PSU im guessing its best to get a 480watt than a 420watt for £20 less...
I run a similar setup you have on a 420 tagan, which is more than enough unless you’re having a good few hard disks and 68XX in SLi. Is memory quite a portion of your budget just that looks like expensive stuff I 've read patriot ram clocks better @ least in the 3200 series. E.g. my corsair will go to 480 Patriot will go to 500.
i got it second hand for the same price as a bog standard gb of corsiar ram would cost if its too much for what i need the i might sell it on... i would like my fsb at my rams stock speed e.g 275 and the multiplyer 8
