So ive got this old ALR 6x6 case hangin around (yes it still all works) but am wanting to build a custom case, one with no visible buttons, switches, slots or holes. Found this link on the web : http://www.markl.f9.co.uk/computers/alr-revolution/alr.htm its has some pretty good pics of the default display of the LCD, but was wondering if it would be possible to add some fan speed controls, and rotate the screen 90 degrees. im no electronics guru or PIC programmer so any info/help would be appreciated.
I've never seen anything like that. That's awesome. To answer your questions, however: I have no idea.
Here is a link to a site that has manuels and stuff about that case. http://support.gateway.com/support/manlib/server/legacy/legacy.shtml There is information their about a bunch of different cases. I'm not sure if there any information about the touch lcd, but it might help. For software to control it, you might need to do some more searching or you might need to get someone to write something for you. Hope this helps... Monkeybone
if anyone wants some closeups of the unit i can pull it out of the case...may do that later anyway... off to work for me. ill post later.
first things first, I would figure out how exactly it's connected. Then what do you have to do to set it up in the original case.(software wise) It may be connected via some kind of propriotary connector exclusive to the motherboard. If not, then you might have a chance.
Yes, chances are it's tightly integrated with the mobo and BIOS. Damned nice system though. I guess the LCD itself is still usable for other modding purposes
pulled the unit, took some pics, http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=11617114&selected= http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=11617115&selected= Looks like its pretty independant, may draw power from the motherboard (only connection to the motherboard) from the connection just above the ribbon cable just above the connection to the LCD its self. you probably will have to find a compatable controller, which might be too much of a problem and if its a standard resistive touchscreen overlay it might not be too hard to get that. you just need to find the controller and the rest should be relatively simple.
