    Is it me or has nobody at Apple ever learnt how to use a camera? The whole marketing department just seems to make Quicktime models of everything

    Apple are only offering 40 or 80gig HDD, which sounds like lappy drives to me.

    Correct - the mini uses 2.5" laptop drives. That's why when I get mine, I'll just get the base 40GB and slap a big external drive on it. I've already bought a nice lacie external drive case from Gordy for just this purpose... ;)

    I have just moved into a new flat, no room for my huge PC's so I was going to buy a shuttle.

    However I was tempted by OSX and bought a mini mac :D the 1.42Ghz one with the standard 256mb (have a 512stick ready to go, will upgrade to 1gb myself in about a month), 80gb, bluetooth and airport extreme. I already have a Apple bluetooth keyboard and the MS Bluetooth Mouse and a 19" Samsung TFT.

    I also have on order the Isight webcam (expensive, but the quality is awsome) a belkin "apple white" firewire 6 port hub and a 200gb Firewire Porsche designed External HDD :) All in all that should provide me everything I need to rival my old PC setup.

    It's been on order for almost a week now, I can't wait for it to arrive to start my journey into OSX :D

    I've got mine already! I managed to snag one at the Apple store on Regent's street. I inquired after Minis, and unfortunatly they didn't have any in stock, what with them being as scarce as rockinghorse poo. Downheartened, I mooched round the store a bit more until I was stood near the refurb section. Then, as luck would have it, A refurbed Mini was brought into stock and plonked on the pile, right in front of me.

    If the moment had been in a film, there would have been a ray of ethereal light and a choir of angels... Well, as you can imagine, GOO grabbed the Mini and GOO's credit card groaned. Especially as I bought a 12" PB for Mrs GOO at the same time. ;)

    Anybody want a laptop or a mini-itx system? See the link in my sig... :D

    I can't find the URL now that I need it.. but there is a open source project for the mini that turns it into a full blown HTPC. Having DVI out, and being a quiet small power little thing, I'm sure it will be a hit.

    Just been into my local apple reseller and they had both the standard models in stock. Ram upgrades were a problem though, they were charging 20 quid as they aren't fans of getting into the damn things.

    @johan

    The mac mini will not run any version of linux, just the mac distros, like yellow dog.

    You can only overclock the mac mini to 1.58GHz, as shown here. Note that the resistors you havce to remove to overclock it are this big!
