As I have previously posted, I have in my possesion a broken Maxtor SATA HDD. The little black data connection has broken as you can see in these pics (sorry about quality, phone camera):

What you can see is the little gold pins unsupported by black plastic. I need this black piece of plastic back in place. I can't just superglue it back because I havn't got it! Can anybody help or know anybody who can fix this please? This is a 160GB drive that I cannot afford to replace. Thanks very much!!

He means the bit that came off. If it's an 8MB Cache model they have a 3 year warranty with Maxtor, RMA it on the site and they'll send you a larger HDD back in return :D

Looks like there's two options available then mate:

    1. Glue the connector back and keep using it.

    2. Glue the connector back on, copy contents to a new drive and then give it to me :D

    Thanks for your help! :)

I guess I'm going to get hold of another scrap SATA drive and see if I can do some sort of transplant.

Anyone got a SATA hard drive available for spares/repairs? Must be worth at least £10 :D
