    Hi guys

Well im off on another log, hopefully ill be able to finish this one as older projects just seemed to fade away from me...

So what's my plan? well TBH im kinda doing this on the fly thinking of idea's as i go along, obviously i have certain plans to keep to but things may change :p

Let start by saying whats going into the project.

    A64 3500+
    K8N SLI Platinum
    X800XL
    1Gb Ram
    couple of HDD
    A DVDRW
    And something else ;)

Now for the case! as the title surgest's this is arcylic on the cheap :) and were better to get that from in uk than ebuyer :p the case was brought for a grand total of £35 :) here it is http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=52795
I will have to say that on arrival i wasn't to impressed regarding the case certain bits just didnt fit right one of the sides were curved and didnt really fit properly but for the price what would you expect? Luckily for this project this all didnt matter to much.

So here's the case with all the bits inside
    [IMG]

What i needed to do now was test design's out so i went down my local Hobby Craft and brought a large sheet of black card type stuff costing a total of £1.50, i then marked out a design on the card (I try'd many different design's but perhaps its just me i like the basic windows better!?).

I then cut out the marked area's and placed the acrylic side panel on top to check fitting.

Next step was to install the side back on the case with the black card behind just to see how it all looked
    [IMG]

I was impressed with the results obviously the end design wont be a black piece of card behind the acrylic, but for test purposes it really helped give a feeling on how the side would look.

Next up was to place some car window tint behind the black card this was brought from halfords along time ago so i dont know the price of it but i have to buy more so will let you know later
    [IMG]

And... thats it for now :) next update will be the final side panel all finished
If anyone has any ideas regarding the design of the panel then let me know who knows i might like your idea :)

    jack.

nice effect man, why don't try it at every side of the case ? You can cut a draw out in the paper of the left pannel than ? just an idee :)

Really really nice. It's good to know that there is a substitute for not having a CNC Mill......Paper! Outstanding

    Nice job

It looks like an early Sunbeam fabricate...
Maybe use more steadier material instead the paper for those cover ups.
Though I don't fully understand the progress of buying an acrylic case and then to try to take away the effect of full visability?

    Nice concept though!

nice one Jack i liked that reply :hehe: i 2 was also thinking about macro black when i seen your case. it is looking brilliant!

what sorta colour theme you going with?
just your case is black with tinted blue plexi but the psu is sleeved red and black?

you going to put some watercooling in it? i know the title says cheap but judging by the hardware i'd say the only thing cheap so far has been the case.

    anyway good luck

The more acrylic case mods i see.. the more tempting it is to go get my Beantech BT-8 down from the loft.... i always wanted to make fake windows... i still might go nab it from the loft... only problem i had was that the back panel didnt like heavy PSU's, so my back panel was slowly bending from the weight of an old 500w psu

i might use the acrylic case for my latest mod.... downside would be that im planning on watercooling it like mad, so it would have 2x BIP's (well just look in my sig for future rig)

all in all that would be very heavy.. so id have to find a way to re-inforce it all

good looking plans... acrylic case mods are always nice imo

There's no need to get pedantic about it, i didn't literally mean there is absoultely NO other case mod's being done at the moment which are plexi. Only that it's been a while since i seen a new one
