My update:

3.866 Ghz folding 24/7
4.1 Ghz folding part time.

If I can get another PC at work folding and speak nicely to a couple of my girlfriends house mates, I could get another 4Ghz+ part time. If I buy a new mobo for my old PC, I could get another 2Ghz 24/7.

 

Adding all these GHz is wrong because they are different for each processor, a 2Ghz Pentium 4 isn't the same as a 2GHz Athlon XP. You could have a 2.5GHz Athlon XP, yet it'll outperform a 3Hz Pentium 4!

We should figure out another way of finding our processing power.

Adding my 2 Centrinos, an Athlon, Athlon XP and Pentium 4 will make up 8.8Ghz of 'lots of different processors processing power"

 

If you use EM III there's a little catculator app that lets you work out the points per hour, day and week a box produces based upon the time per frame and work unit type. This does vary by the type of work unit, i.e. Gromacs, Tinker, Amber - and the variations of each as Intel CPUs do better with some units (Gromacs) and AMD with others (Tinkers).

If one type of units were used in comparisons I think it'd give a better reflection than pure Ghz.

For example my 2ghz Athlon system (pc333) is doing 504 points a week. My 2.8 P4 @ 3.2 is running 2 instances with HT and is turning out 1119 points x 2 per week. The 1ghz P3 is on just 219 points per week.

All of these are gromacs cores but they are of different types.

Edit: Atomic = 2,255 points today! No. 1 producer here you come let alone with another stack of CPUs to come. I guess half your current machines have submitted results today.

 

Ok, point taken. At least you get a rough idea.

2.2Ghz celeron 24/7
1Ghz PIII 24/7
Dual PII 333Mhz 24/7 running 2 instances
1.4Ghz Athlon running part time.
2.2Ghz Athlon XP running part time.

I have been watching this team climb up the charts quite a bit lately, congrats on getting to the 500000 Mark Hope to compete against you in the top 100 soon Anyway good luck and keep climbin'.

 

I think it's ever since the post about the team entering the top 400, there's been a massive push. Not even two months after and we're currently at position 289.

 

During the time that my team was getting about the same daily average as your team we were stuck in 117th for about 3 months, we are now 108th, but I can see this team gaining speed and I can also foresee a worthy competitor down the line, as I said before good folding.

 

287th now, going well. My school is having the school network system replaced, leaving about 50 celerys (about 1.5Ghz) going to scrap, would be nice if I could have them all, and folding. But, I don't have the space for 50! (And not paying for the leccy ). Think I could just take the mobos and ram, and create a cluster server, liked a stacked one I saw someone make before?

Thats 75 Celeron Ghz. Will keep some for myself, and if anyone wants some, fine as long as you pay for postage - or collect them! Not gonna happen until easter (Doing it in the half term), I'll have a word with the head of the IT department and see what he says, not gonna throw them in the skip before I get a word in

If I do get hold of them what would I need from it to run a cluster? The motherboard + processor and a strip of RAM (Think the school computers run on 128MB each). Do I need one power supply and HDD for each, or just one for each cluster?

Not totally sure but i think you need 1 psu per mobo, and its one HDD per cluster, so you dont need loads, but you will need loads of network cable..
