I ordered one in for a customer, unfortunately neither of us had done our homework as his board was not on the "supported" list on Plextor's website. So far we have been unable to get Windows to see it on any of the three boards we've tried. BIOS detects it just fine so we are assuming that there are driver issues that Plextor needs to address- perhaps the reason for the limited rollout.
There seem to be some problems with the PX 716-SA. Plextor doesn't even know if this model will ever be sold in Europe, so I decided not to wait any longer and just bought two normal versions. The cables can't be seen anyway, because everything will be stealthed. But less cables would be better for the airflow behind the motherboard cover. I expect no trouble, because I think my two 120mm fans on top of the case will create enough airflow behind the stealthing covers. It looks like I can start modding this weekend, because most parts I need will be in. The last two weeks I only made paper models and a lot of drawings. Just can't wait to start the real modding again. Just to give an impression what the stealting will look like. It's is not what it will look like when it's finished, but gives you a good idea what it will look like. When the motherboard is in I can mark the places thet I will have to cut out for the videocards, CPU cooler, chipsetcooler en the memory. It's a big job, but I'm sure the aluminium stealthing will look very good in the end.
Just a quick photoshot. It fits like a glove! Just enough space between the radiator and the first videocard. There enough room for the CPU waterblock too. I hope my Aquacomputer stuff will arrive very soon. This weekend I can start modding again.
The case is off the hook I am following this at tweakers.net But i have a question! How many euro's costs that Uv-plexiglass?
The acrylic front is almost finished. The three small holes are for the Aquaero buttons, the big hole is for the reservoir and at the bottom are the holes for the DVD drives. I only will have to cut out the ejectbuttons and make two covers that will fill up the gap when the DVD drives are closed. Behind the acrylic glass a aluminium plate will be mounted. This plate will be almost the same as the acrylic frontplate. Because I'm not going to use the frontblende for the aquaero I will have to figure out a nice way to place the text for the buttons.
looks good franklin glad to see you didn't give up after not being able to repair the reserviour front good work
Would anyone be nuts enough to give up on a case that costs $250 plus another probably $500 on watercooling? Didn't think so Looks very nice, can't wait to see it installed.
I have and had some ideas about the mod, but some things just don't look the way as you expect so you modify that. A mod has to evolve. Trial and error.
The reservoir needs the aluminium backplate to be mounted, otherwise the acrylic glass would brake by the weight of the reservoir. This week I will start with the aluminium.
