can anyone recomend a good online game for a noob? i've got an amd sempron 2800 (should be 2GHz but it runs at 1.3 for some reason) 256mb ram (soon to be 512) radeon 9200se 128mb
Generals: Zero Hour you probably need to up your FSB in your BIOS to get your processor running at full speed.
would the pc slow down the cpu if it got too hot? its running at around a constant 50° i should really replace that standard heatsink and fan
You should post in the hardware section mate, the people there will help you get your PC sorted in no time Your PC will slow down when it runs out of RAM (quite likely with 256MB) as it has to start using the HDD instead. If the CPU gets too hot, it will lock up or crash, not slow down. 50 degrees is OK, but not for a seriously underclocked cpu at stock voltage.
You could play Call of Duty online. Great online game. You should get that processor checked out though.
counterstrike is good. It will play on all computers, is easily available (only needs halflife) and has specific servers for new players.
Counterstrike is pretty hardcore. You can have a lot of fun on Call of Duty multiplayer especially if you're good at fps's.
Counter-Strike and Pandora Tomorrow are fun online games. But lately (becuase Paint-ball season is closely approaching...) I have been hardcore into Digital paintball mod for Half-Life 1. If you like paintball I suggest that game, but any of the games mentioned above are terrific choices as well.
I'd have to say take the jump and buy half life 2. Mainly because it comes with counterstrike, counterstrike source, half life, half life source, and like 5 more I think. (when purchasing a silver account from steam) I'm fairly new to FPS and I've really enjoyed it. I played with a GeForce 2 and an AMD Athlon XP 2500+/512Mb RAM no problem. I just upgraded to a 9800 Pro, and it is definitely nicer to have 1280x1024 with full anti-aliasing, but the old GeForce 2 ran counterstrike source at 800x600 just fine.
i've been playing fps on consoles since back in the days of the old grey box but it gets boring coz lets face it AI isnt the best on consoles and even when i've played agains my mates split screen or linked its never been a chalange so maybe online CS will be fun. ive not been owned in ages lol do you think my pc will run CS: source ok and can someone point me to a website selling it or other games like it coz all i can find is CS:Condition Zero i've got my cpu running at full speed now theres some very helpful bods on here
For n00bs Diablo 2 isn't that bad. the online community is friendly enough and they like to help out newbies. Should run very easily on your comp.
hey, i dont forget mohaa, out of all the games i have i constantly go back to mohaa. mohaa is probly one of the older games out there but though it doesnt have as much eye candy is a very fun game to play.
