Are you using H-molding or C-molding? It looks like C-molding would fit on there, if with a bit of trimming, and then you'd just have to glue the window on with some epoxy. No fan mods at all.
What you could do, although it may be a bit challenging. You could cut the case, and mount the fan half inside the case, and half outside. you could then build a shroud on the outside of the case to cover the bit showing. Yeah I'm using H-moulding. Would I glue the plastic to the metal, I reckon that would look at bit weird :/
