I've tried a few such as Active smart, but it lists my two maxtor drives as the same drive. They both show up as 120gb drives, with the same serial number. Is that because im using the trial or just that the program is a bit pants? Any recomendations?

Are you sure it's showing the serial number and not the model/blah number?

Reason i ask is i have maxtors aswell and i remember the same thing showing, however when checked i noticed the serial numbers were different on the sticker.

They are different drives with different model numbers, but active smart just shows two sata hard drives with the same numbers / smart results. :wallbash:

a client of mine had a maxtor that had a different serial # to the one smart reported, i rang maxtor thinking it might of been stolen. They RMA'd me a new one.
