    Hi,

Due to budget only have to spend around £140 on 1024 2x512 PC4000 dual channel kit. Microdirect have the Geil kit for £129 atm and the Crucial stuff would come to £140.

    Geil

    crucial

Any thoughts or tips on this, want to run around 240/245 fsb with my system in dual channel.

    P4 3.0 Northwood, Abit IC7, watercooling.

System will run with 240 fsb no problem because I have had OCZ PC4000 2x256mb in there but found that not enough with video edit, gaming etc. However it was very good for overclocking!!

    Thanks for your time,

Some links would be mighty nice as there are more than one 1GB PC4000 kit made by Geil and by Crucial for that matter.

I have a very similar setup, and I bought the geil platinum pc4000 ram. I am VERY happy with it, it gives me more headroom than crucial and the timings can actually drop below the stated ones up through 250mhz (at about 255 I need to run it at stock timings). It also doesn't require a lot of voltage to get up there (unlike crucial), which is good since the IC7 series tops out at 2.95v.

My system is as follows, for your reference:
    P4 2.6c (@3.2)
    Abit IC7-G
    1024 mb Geil Ultra Platinum pc4000 (2x512)

    Hope it helps!

i'd go with crucial, and back the fsb down to 233, then time the modules to 2-2-2-8 @ 2.8V :)

I have gone for the Crucial PC4000 1gig(with voucher £133 incl delv) gonna try the above timings.
Always had Crucial mem and never had any problems, so stick with what I am use to.

Def going to have a go with those timings looks really good.

Thanks for all tips and advice and I will post back later with an update.
