Well, it's time for me to input something into the modding forum. I've been collecting some bits for a new project of mine and now i can finally start on it. The donor case in question is a Lian Li PC70 which i got from my good friend Legion. The Spec of my setup will be (for the time being anyway) COMPONENTS DFI Ultra-D A64 3000 0448 SPAW @ 2700 on air 1GB G.Skill LA PC4800 ATi X850XT-PE 1x80GB Maxtor SATA 1x300GB Maxtor 10 WATER COMPONENTS Cathars G4 Storm CPU block Dangerden Maze 4 Acetal 2005 block Aqua-extreme AQX50Z Pump Dangerden Fillport Thermochill 120.3 Radiator Panaflow 120x38mm fans x3 Tygon R3603 and R1000 tubing Here's where it all starts!!!! Right 1st things 1st.....time to cut the holes for my Thermochill 120.3 radiator and dangerden fillport....yes - you've guessed it - i'm watercooling in this little beauty. And one more with the rear fan guards cut out and removed to reduce noise and aid air flow. More to come
Next thing to do was to braid the cables from the switches to the motherboard and the fan controller Then cut the hole for the pump in the hard drive caddy While the braiding was out i did the pump before installing it
Here's the pump installed into the cage And fitted into the case. I then put the radiator in. The config for the fans e.t.c on the raddy is: Panaflo's in a pull config out of the case mounted on some gutted cheapy 120x25mm fans to eliminate the dead spot and create more suction through the raddy. That lot's then fitted to the Thermochill 120.3
Well, here's the top of the case so far. And here with some tubing starting to make it's way into the setup. Here's one of the front of the raddy with the fillport tubing routed down to the "T" line just before the pump inlet.
Here's an earlier pic i took before i stripped it and cut the fillport hole (i'd done the fan holes before) also with the Lian Li stealth bezels and fan controllers - not to mention the Lian Li window panel Kind of gives you an idea of what it'll look like from the exterior when it's finished. Here's one of the Dangerden Maze 4 Acetal GPU block next to my MX1000 - it's mahoosive
Right, emptied the whole lot and re-routed the tubing, wasnt 100% happy with it before. Here's the mobo with CPU ready to mount the G4 on it. Here's the G4 mounted (ooo-eerrrr too much love for ya hardware) along with the X850XT-PE and Maze 4 acetal.
And the last one for tonight - here we are with it up and running cpu temps are 38 degrees idle with no noise at all from the 3 panaflos on 7v. According to ATitool the GPU is only 35 degrees at stock speeds on idle Pump is a bit buzzy but i reckon a good wad of foam will sort that out to stop vibrations carrying through case to make it silent as if i lift the HDD cage out of its position it's silent. So still lots to do to make it 100% but the main thing is the hardware is in and running....yipeeeeee
Just thought i'd share with you some of the mods that ive done on my case to enable me to run high end watercooling. Ive had Prommies before - but prefer the ease and silence of water.
Very nice just sweet and simple. Are you not woried about EMI from the pump affecting your hdd's after a long exposed period of time? Or is the pump you are using good at not giving out EMI?
