I`ve just (at 7am) ordered some new hardware from overclockers.co.uk. Considering I`ve got an adequate system (2800+XP, Radeon 9700 Pro, Corsair xms3200 twinX, Asus A7N8X Delux) do you think I`ve gone overboard? DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 3800 Venice 90nm (Socket 939) (YES, A VENICE!!) Corsair 1GB DDR XMS4400 TwinX (2x512MB) CAS2.5 (TWINX1024-4400C25PT) HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X800 XL ICEQII TURBO 256MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) Think it`ll be quick enough?
If you had of ordered dual 6800U's then i would of said yeah, but as you didn't i'd say your just power hungry . Death
LOL death. If I was going dual ultras (which I might in the future if I know I can water cool them to quietness) I would have bought 2 Asus Extreme N6800 Ultra`s, RRP £415.95. That`s £830 approx !!!! After reading tomshardware real testing article and looking at the benchmarks I realised that the xl is 75% as quick at max settings and 90% as quick at the lower setting, thats half life 2 tests. I didn`t want to pay an extra £600 (thats 3 times the price of the XL) to have something that the human eye can`t detect (100frames/second) I`ll give you my own results when it`s overclocked
Y'know, after you use that system even once, you'll find your current computer to be FAR too slow. If you'd like me to help you with that, I'd be happy to PM you with my shipping address.
"Gotta have it allllll. Pokemon!" Na, never happened. As to why youd order an SLI board then put in an ATI ill never know.
Why not buy one nvidia until he can afford SLI. Look - SM3 and HDR! warning: im in an extremely sarcastic mood this eve.
Bar the RAM, you just ordered exactly what I'm going to order in the next few months, so I would say no, you didn't . Tell me how it runs And Bindi -- because completely excluding the SLi, it's by far the best overclocking board available. That's my reason for selecting it, anyways. Plus it leaves future upgrades quite open.
Dude, i know exactly what you mean - i wouldn've done the same, but i'm simply trying to defend the poor sod before you destroy him .
Id love to buy your old system off of you; too bad I dont have very much money at all Thats basically a slight step down from the best rig in my house
why not just get the ultra-d the non sli version of that board that last i heard was pencil moddable to sli.
nice set up x850xtpe would be wkd! basically 2x 6800 ready 's would have been over board as they are 580£ each!!!! shove that up your asus extreme!!!
The only ones that are confirmed to work with the pencil mod are series one and two. Anything other than that, all bets are off.
