I`ve just (at 7am) ordered some new hardware from overclockers.co.uk. Considering I`ve got an adequate system (2800+XP, Radeon 9700 Pro, Corsair xms3200 twinX, Asus A7N8X Delux) do you think I`ve gone overboard?

    DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard
    AMD Athlon 64 3800 Venice 90nm (Socket 939) (YES, A VENICE!!)
    Corsair 1GB DDR XMS4400 TwinX (2x512MB) CAS2.5 (TWINX1024-4400C25PT)
    HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X800 XL ICEQII TURBO 256MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express)

    Think it`ll be quick enough?

    LOL death.

If I was going dual ultras (which I might in the future if I know I can water cool them to quietness) I would have bought 2 Asus Extreme N6800 Ultra`s, RRP £415.95. That`s £830 approx !!!!

After reading tomshardware real testing article and looking at the benchmarks I realised that the xl is 75% as quick at max settings and 90% as quick at the lower setting, thats half life 2 tests. I didn`t want to pay an extra £600 (thats 3 times the price of the XL) to have something that the human eye can`t detect (100frames/second)

I`ll give you my own results when it`s overclocked :)

Y'know, after you use that system even once, you'll find your current computer to be FAR too slow. If you'd like me to help you with that, I'd be happy to PM you with my shipping address. :D

Bar the RAM, you just ordered exactly what I'm going to order in the next few months, so I would say no, you didn't ;). Tell me how it runs :D

And Bindi -- because completely excluding the SLi, it's by far the best overclocking board available. That's my reason for selecting it, anyways. Plus it leaves future upgrades quite open.

The only ones that are confirmed to work with the pencil mod are series one and two. Anything other than that, all bets are off.

The 512MB versions are £580 each, the normal ones are only(!) £380 each.
