    Introduction
    Hi yall :)

To introduce myself, I'm a 16yo student from the Netherlands. I've made 2 mods, where 1 isn't even finished. The first was a wooden case with graffiti painted on it, the second a metal drawer (which btw sucks to cut in :( ).

Well, the one made of wood and spray painted with graffiti kind off sucks. It totally does NOT stand nice next to my pimpstation (ahum, my TV).

    Current situation
    [IMG]

From top to bottom, from left to right:
-Stupid red siren which I already threw in the trashcan
    -Dual 16" subwoofers (true killers)
-LED-Bar (show the latest news flashes)
-2 smaller speakers (1 woofer and 1 tweeter each)
-"Van Oranje" cap, Von Dutch ripoff :p
-Loewe Credo 55 (Yes, that is 55cm aka 21-22 inch :waah: )
-Former graffiti casemod, which is going to be chopped in pieces
    -Smaller speaker
    -Alarm clock
    -Technics V300 Mark II Amplifier
-Akai VHS (which is going to be thrown away after I install a TV-card in my former Media PC aka this project)
-Again a small speaker (tweeter style)
    -Keyboard
    -12 ports 10mbit Hub (3com, duh)
    -PS-Two + Controllers
    -Silver briefcase

    Future situation

I am going to make a 19" black aluminium casing, which is going to have to looks of this baby:

It’s going to be all black aluminium, LianLi style :)

    Post-update schedule
21-4-2005: Post first sketch up design
24-4-2005: Starting the base plate of this computer (MDF base plate)
    28-4-2005: Starting the aluminium casing
30-4-2005 till 7-5-2005: Being in London
8-5-2005: Making the finishing touch, like painting the Alu :)

If anyone has suggestions what to do in London, please say so as where I have simply NO idea what I'm going to do there :p Tower of London maybe?

PS: I've run this text through a spell-checker for over 3 times. If you still see spell-mistakes, please say so. There is nothing so nice as knowing what I'm doing wrong :)

I realy want the black aluminium look, like this:

Will anonizing give that result? I now spraypainting a metal surface will give a mat black look, not the polisch alu look :p

Yes, anodizing will get you the finish you're looking for. Pretty much all black HiFi equipment, including that Technics, have anodized finishes, giving them the unique finish and texture. Oh, and don't feel bad about your TV, mine is only 13"; my primary monitor is bigger than it (19"), haha. Good luck on this project.

And I instantly started building the "mainframe":

I am still searching for ways to make alu black, andodizing is (I think) very expensive, and I dont know any shops in central-holland :)

Ok, so the design sucked. I made some great changes, and the case is now 12,3cm high instead of 19cm (4.82 inch instead of 7.6 inch). I can eventualy make it less high, because the wood I use as a baseplate is 1,8cm high (0.70 inch).

Pictures will be posted 20.00 (GMT +1). I can't work tommorow, because I haven't bougth the wooden baseplate (and I am still at work, so I cant go out and buy some wood)

And as you all know, the name of the case is kindoff gay. Its a mix of Paintstripper (because the previous case was painted with graffiti) and the heavy Pain in the ass my computer is giving me. If anyone happens to know a better name, please say so :)

Great news today! The sketch is finished :)

The Current model closed (with actual measurments in centimeters)
With the "hood" off. This is 1 whole piece, made in order to exterminate screws on the outside
    [IMG]
Exploded view, the front and back can me removed from the wooden baseplate.
Topview with all the hardware installed (the hardware mounts aren't drawn yet)

More great news: I found an andodize company about 16 kilometers (10 miles) from here! I hope he also does black, and that he isn't that expensive :p

    mm htpc..

from your sketchup it looks like the optical drive isnt centered? is that just a bad angle or will the drive be mounted slightly to one side?

Yes, I indeed live in the Netherlands (Amersfoort), but on an international forum, I'd rather speak the main-language, in this case English :)

The CD-ROM is indeed not in the centre :( Putting it to the right will cause in making some collision with the PSU, putting it to the left will cause in making some collision with the PCI Cards :(

Well, its the only Solution. I can somehow center it, but that will result in a casing of 19cm of height, instead of a casing with only 12cm of height

By the way: I made this design in Sketchup 4 :)
