Howdy. Just bought a neat gadget off eBay (yes I know, I used the word 'neat'). It requires: DC 8V 200MA adapter, however it was supplied with a battery to DC connection adapter. So I guess the question is what type of adapter, or even better would be what type of battery would I use for it? A link would be sweet. Cheers all, bg
depending on what it is, it may or maynot have internal voltage regulaton. if it does, you can use it with 9v (alkiline) or 9.6v (nicad) batts and 9v mains adapters. if it doesnt, you can use a diode to drop 9v down to 8.2ish. For batteries, a 9V alkaline or an 8.4V rechargeable pack would work. Keep in mind that the small 9V cells can't push 200mA for too long, so i would use packs of AA cells. otherways you could buy an 8V voltage regulator and a 10-12VDC adaptor with a capacitor output.
Does it HAVE to be powered via battery? How about household electricity? If battery, why not ask seller? (I would, and I am Engineer). Otherwise it's trial&error. Links would not do u any good as this is a generic question, u would have to take a class to learn the basics.
that says allot if he bought it off of eBay, 99% of the time the people selling stuff know nothing about what their selling. that is what makes the concept so successful. in general, it is bad practice to assume that someone is an idiot. (in your case, im not assuming because you’ve repeatedly demonstrated your stupidity ) if he is asking us what type of adapter he needs, that in it's self is grounds for giving examples of the type of adapter that he needs. the point of a forum is to help people, not tell them that they are too dumb to understand anyway and the only resort is to take a class. you have gone down the 6 most recent threads in the electronics forum and posted useless spam. if you have nothing positive and helpful to contribute, STFU.
The quality of the answer follows the quality of the question posed. noob is OK, I was one, I had hope for more details, let us on in the fun, what's the use for such a gadget, what are the intentions etc. etc. as is, too generic, uninteresting mind u. The assumption is made based on the quality and quantity of information given.
i bet its a wireless camera, had a lot of trouble gettign my one of them the right power, reciever needed 12v, supplied with 9v battery connector, unless the batt was BRAND new (so just over 9v power) it would work.. cam needed 9v plain and simple... is it a cam?
I have a small wall wart that says 12V/350MA on the case. Does that mean I can start my own Aluminum plant?
